People don't usually misspell my name. But there are times when they spell it as Ritchie instead of Richie. I don't really mind it but I always try to say "as in Richie Rich" to make them remember how my name is spelled.
I think people don't like their names being misspell, especially in important documents like certificates or cheques.
How about you? Do people usually misspell your name?

Yes people tend to misspell my name and i have to spell it out to them...sometimes i end up filling up the form and i should be the one to write it...really my name is not that difficult..it is just unique and not so ordinary...like the owner of the name..LOL!

It's rare that I have to write it down. I would just say "Richie
as in Richie Rich" and they would get it. But there are a lot
of times that I don't get the chance to tell it to them. And
there are also times that even I have written the correct
spelling, a document would come to me misspelled again.
Have a nice day!

My name in general is quite easy to spell becuase it's only 3 letters.. lol =D BUt when it comes to formal documents or other things, most ple will tend to mispell the last character of my full name, changing it form 3 letters to 4 letters.. lol =D ANd i dunno what's the reason.. hehe =D Maybe they din expect ple to have my name being spelled in that way ^_^

Hi there Richie!
You're right. It is annoying when people misspell your name on important documents especially when they can easily ask you first before writing it down or typing it.
My name is really common, Angelica but there are still some instances that it gets misspelled. Some spell it as Angelika, Anjelica, or Anjelika. Others mispronounce it too, though rarely, reading the "g" in Angelica as an "h".

My last name is easy to misspell, and even when my fiance and I get married their's a chance they'll misspell that as well. My first name has been misspelled once before, it was in grade school and the teacher spelled it as EMBER instead of Amber. I got upset about it, but I was a kid, so I suppose it was a bigger impact. If someone misspells my first name now I'll just correct them. On important documents, yes, I would be a bit upset. However, not so much as there was one time my name was misspelled but the document still came to me. Ofcourse it was two years later, but it was money, so it was a gift.. misspelled name or not! lol!

Not my first name, no. It is pretty straightforward for most people to know how to spell "James" and the closest anyone has come in the past is to call me "Jamie". But people are ALWAYS leaving the "S" off the end of my surname for some reason. Both my first and last names have five letters in each so you would not think it was THAT difficult; but for some reason it seems to be for many people!

I would not misspelled you name "James" either. I guess there are no other way to spell unless other people would invent one.
I don't have much problem with my surname although some would use "v" instead of a "b" because there are really some surnames that uses "v" but that rarely happens so I am ok with it.
Have a nice day!

Sometimes I think my mother was out to get me when she named me. LOL I got stuck with Shiliela and not only does it get misspelled, it gets mispronounced constantly. It used to bother me more when I was a kid, but now I make a game out of it just to see how long it'll take someone to get it right. When I was in school, I was in a class with 4 other girls named Sheila and none of us knew who the teacher wanted until the last name was included. Teachers screwed it up on purpose because they knew it bugged me. Now I've gotten to where I'll answer to almost anything that doesn't sound like an insult. LMAO I've even been accused of misspelling it myself, I told them if I don't know how to spell it, who would?
BTW, it rhymes with Delilah. :)

I usually give everyone 3 tries before I rescue them and tell them how to say it. Sometimes I think I wasn't born with a name, I was born with a tongue-twister!. LOL Funny part is I've had a boyfriend since September and he's just now getting to where he can remember it AND pronounce it. (Most of the time anyway. He has short-term memory loss.)) LOL

There are times that people misspell my last name and even mispronounced it. I think I'm having these problems since I was in school grade, it wasn't that hard or odd surname, slightly Spanish, but I don't know, they seems misspell it or not pronounced it right sometimes. Yeah, I find it annoying to see if my name was misspelled sometimes, but most of the time, I just overlook it and just corrected it.

People do tend to spell my last name wrong. They spell it as it sounds instead of the way it's supposed to be. Some people do misspell my first name, but not too much. I spell it Jenn with two n's and often people spell it with just one. Even a bunch of my friends do it, while only my best friend and boyfriend spell it right LOL.

when i was younger, yes people would often misspell my name. they'd use an "i" instead of "y" (probably because of being a filipino), and some would use double letters when they don't have to, some would even use apostrophe before my "s", and worse one of them was my mom. hah?!
but now, that a celebrity with the same name of same spelling had gotten a bit popular (having her name published on the newspapers, or flashed on tv screens), only the oldies would make mistakes.^_^

Yes, my Christian name is constantly misspelt - and pronounced incorrectly. It used to drive me crazy when I was at primary school - but then someone shortened it, which caused different problems because then it sounded like another name and I would be called that. Grr.

Hi! Some people misspell my name. My name's Aileen and it's pronounced as "eye-lean", not "a-lean". So some people usually write Eileen (which is supposedly the correct one). Others write "Ailene". Some have never even heard of my name yet so they go for "Arlene"

Some people will misspell my last name. When I was growing up they would say my last name wrong. I hated that lol. I was glad for graduation that a certain person was calling my name b/c she always said it right. My first name is Mindy so its not too bad. Some people have forgotten my name before and would call me Wendy or Mandy.

People don't usually mispell my first name, but since there are different spellings for my last name, I always spell it when I give it. My maiden name I ALWAYS spelled, since it is unusual. My first married name I always spelled since no one was sure of what I was saying, or didn't think that they were hearing me right!

LOL, I've watched Richie Rich before and that's certainly cute.
As for me, I don't really have any problems at all people mentioning my name because it is just so easy. The only variations I have would be the different ways people love to mention them. Z, zed, zee and many more, ha!!!
I could understand why you have over 100+ responses for this. Great discussion here, no doubt!!!

I think everyone gets their name misspelled at some point or another especially if their name has several different spellings, and I am sorry that some people spell your name as Ritchie instead of Richie and I have had a couple of times where people have spelled my name as Johnathan instead of Jonathan even though it does not bother unless it is on important documents since I know everyone makes mistakes, and I am sure that I have misspelled a couple of names in my time.

All the time, only because though their used to the spelling C-A-N-D-I-C-E. But it's actually Candace, instead of "ice", it's "ace".
My family doctor, while I was growing up, always called me "Ace" as a nickname, just because of that spelling.
