Yesterday's one of the hot discussion got deleted !! ($ 11.11 in 1 hour !!)

Yesterday I was strongly opposing to one of my friend's discussion where he requested myLot users to put their e-mail IDs in the discussion inorder to join under him for a money making site. When I advised him of the consequences, it seems he got annoyed and expressed it something negatively. Today, I got curious to how many people responded to that discussion and tried to access the discussion. The message says that the discussion got deleted as it violates myLot discussion guidelines. Infact he was ready to accept his faults, when other friends advised him not to ask anybody's email IDs openly. I appreciate his goodwill. But my concern is the time we spent for discussing and advising such wrong attempts. The responses he got contained useful information regarding myLot discussion policies and online security. Are we loosing our time in participating in such discussions ?

I guess not. If you think its worth spending your time to share your thoughts with other people then there is nothing wrong with it. In a way, maybe, you might think your posts were just for nothing. But I would say that as long as people read your posts or responses, the idea has been transferred and being carried by others in their mind. Nothing to worry, people has learned from you. ^_^

Hi there aryajayaprakash I am FULLY aware of the discussion concerned, I am also fully aware that it contained some VERY valuable information. When I particiapted in the discussion I also knew that sooner or later it would be deleted due to a small part of its content. When we see a discussion which is violating the rules we have two choices, to respond or not to respond. In the case of the discussion you are referring to, as far as I and ALL the others who offered their help were concerned, the question of earning did not enter into our thoughts. Some very good advice was given. Now, as the discussion is no longer there, I would like to suggest something to you. Your contribution, in my opinion, was EXTREMELY valuable and I am sure could be of use to others who did not see it there. All the part you wrote about search engines for example. Could you not make others aware of this by doing another discussion pointing out all the things you pointed out there? I am sure MANY would benefit from your advice I feel too that many times in life we earn more in interior satisfaction than in what we earn lining our purse - this was the case with that disxussion as far as I am concerned

Hi mysdianait, I remember, you responded to that discussion before me and contained some good suggestion. True to the heart, before starting this discussion, after I checked and realized that discussion got deleted, I was worried about the good suggestions proposed by you and darksorrow. That is the reason, I started this discussion and was waiting for yours and darksorrow's comments. Really happy to see you here. I will put those comments in another discussion. Thanks and happy myLotting!

Dear Arya,we should avoid any discussion related to referral exchange or anything related this,or any discussion violating the guide lines, otherwise we have to face the result of deduction in posts or responses resulting negative points in earning.Another point i have learned here ,is to avoid controversy, the fact is when you will participate in controversial discussion ,you will write something that may not be tasteful to some other and some will rate negatively,i have faced this already.

Thanks Satyakam, more than earning, it is the content and I think, there will always be good suggestions and reference points proposed by experienced myLot friends. Everything get deleted. Happy myLotting!

The starting discussion violated the myLot rules, but it had good suggestions and advise from many of our friends regarding online security and myLot restrictions.

I don't think so. Many of us just don't have the habit of reading guidelines when entering in to a new website. Thats because we will just have the feel that all the rules will be common in every website. Hehe. Mylot is something different from everything. Newbies don't know the guidelines, Do's and Don't in Mylot. We seniors must guide them. Have you ever seen a senior doing such a mistake??? Only the first week people do mistakes like this. From the second week they will know about mylot very well and start guiding others. Thats what I do. I joined just 15 days back. Hehe. Not a big senior. Hehe.

The bottom line is we should all be aware of the guidelines for using this site and if we recognise someone else's post as contravening these guidelines then we need to steer clear because of course it will be deleted! So it is up to us to NOT participate in a discussion that falls outside of the rules. There are no sudden surprises concerning loss of earnings or a decrease in post number if we do this.

WOW! That sounded like it would have been a very interesting discussion. Sorry I missed it. But that's how it is on myLot. It only takes one person to ruin it for everyone. That's one thing I DON'T like about myLot. They should handle it the way forum administrators do. Simply deleted or edit the offending post. Why penalize everyone. Cheers, Stan

Trinale it wasn't the discussion itself that was interesting, indeed it was in violation of the MyLot terms, but almost all of the responses and comments that followed. They were filled with advice and suggestions as to why certain rules exist and that they are there for the benefit of MyLot users. The offending content was the discussion starter's content and NOT the responses. How do you delete the beginning of a discussion and leave all of the responses up? That is not possible on ANY forum.

Yea, you are right sir. myLot is saving its users from online frauds, but as you told, they punish all when deleting the whole discussion. They can use alternate administrative tools to save good contents from getting deleted.

aryajayap rakash I do wish you all would read the blasted rules then you would avoid these stupid discussions that get deleted and lose points for those of us dumb enough to try to help the poster. the rules are easy to read and should be read ocassionally to renew your knowledge so people will not keep getting their discussions deleted.

Hello aryajayaprakash, I am happy to know that you have concern for that person. Not many are like this. And i think you have not wasted your time on that discussion. Because if you are responding to a discussion then you have wasted your time. But i think you did not responded for that reason. Otherwise you have not responded more than one time. So as long as you are having fun with discussions then it is worth your time. It is what i think.

Hi darksorrow, Yesterday, we tried to correct him, though at times he got little annoyed. But I think he is a nice guy, but unfortunate to have his discussion deleted. You are correct, I was not directly responding to him, but supporting 'scornibear'. I think newbies must be careful about their offer through myLot. It is nice to meet you again here. Happy myLotting!

I think that person was a smarter one compared to me. When i was new & also started a discussion with my referral link. So that person did not used a link but asked for emails. I was not also sure unless one of my discussion got deleted for asking emails. So at first did not realized it. I you know what happened. The response in which we were having a discussion actually i was angry with that responder(u mentiond name). Saying someone a fool is humiliating that person i think. We can not use offensive sentences in our discussion, it is also a rule here. If i had the habit to report then i would surely have reported him. All i did just tried that person. He should have treated nicely. When at first i made the mistake someone told me this way: Using your referral link is against mylot's terms. Your discussion as well as your account can get deleted for that. So be careful next time. You can see the difference between the responses. Like you I was only just trying to help him. I don't know what others think but i think if newbies make mistake then who are here in mylot should try to point out their mistakes. Not charge them for making the mistake. Thanks you for reading. I was waiting for your response.

Many people think that myLot restricts the scope of their discussion and earning potential by imposing regulations against posting email IDs. Infact myLot is protecting us by immediately deleting them from this online community.

Yup what your friend did was actually violating the rules of myLot. And that is the reason the staff must have deleted his post. I know some people don't accept their faults that easily unless many people tell them the same. But finally at least he accepted he had done something wrong. Well helping out others and advising them when they go wrong is not a waste of time i feel. It shows that you know how to handle and deal with a particular situation. Also as long as it helps the other person realize his mistake its a good thing to do. That is what i feel in my honest opinion regarding this matter.

Yea, he did accept the faults and he must be a nice guy. So, we can not really say, it was a waste of time, but as the contents posted on that discussion were worth for others, many of our friends in myLot will miss it.

I wouldn't be surprised if some had posted their email addresses. That leaves them open to a lot of spam. And as far as spam is concerned, if the person requesting the email addresses had used them, he or she would have left themselves open for spam complaints, regardless. Much safer to use options that require confirmation, for all parties concerned.

Yes we loosing our time by responsing in that discussions. We give some good advice there and in maximum cases they dont love that. They continue what they did and after some time the disscussion deleted. So. our response also deleted and we loss what we earn from that response. So. without lossing time we get nothing. Happy day!

Hello there aryajayaprakash What was the $11.11 in 1 hour all about? I think it is a shame that we cannot talk about certain things when the whole idea is to discuss. I understand if it was bad mouthing myLot or was of sick nature but on cetain issues I think it is a must!

I have mixed feelings on this subject. On one hand, I believe myLot did the right thing to shut down that discussion, because you never know what someone will use emails for. Although the users didn't have to agree on giving him their emails, they should know better than to violate the terms of service of myLot. On the other hand, I don't think the people who weren't involved in that should be penalized. For instance, you were trying to advise him to not violate the terms of service, but you lost revenue.
