I am a MSN messenger user but I haven't use it for nearly 3 months! I used to turn on my MSN messenger every day. I am online almost every day but somehow do not have the mood to turn On my MSN messenger. Actually, I only notice that it has been so long since I last log into my MSN messenger when my friends asked me why I am always not online. 3 months ago, I was irritated with a friend because he kept disturbing me by nudging me many times using MSN messenger. I was so irritated that I logged off and continued with what I was doing. Ever since that day, I stop logging in. (Anyway, no worries, I am still friends with him even though he's childish ) Do you Always turn On your Messenger when you are Online? Why and why not? Thanks

I am a yahoo messenger user. And yes, i always have my YM on always, since my hubby lives in another part of the world. I always want to keep it open just incase he's around and he could leave some message. Oftentimes, when im not expecting any important message from anyone, i usually turn it off. Only if im doing some graphic designs, that requires my full attention. I don't usually like anyone buttin in and poppin out on my screen out of nowhere when i was so focus on my artwork. I couldn't help but glare on the screen, like hoping i got magic and make it 'poof!' gone. But i always welcome interrupted message, specially from my friends too. I don't usually give out my ym name, unless i feel that you can be trusted. But my friends understand that when im online, they can talk to me anytime, but usually im more invisible than visible. I just lurk in YM most of the time, while i do busy mylotting. :P

Yea. Messenger is the fastest and cheapest way to get in touch with your loved ones. Haha.. when I am doing work or in mylot, I prefer to be undisturbed too.

With me it's, uh... marginally different, I suppose? I mean, I'm online everyday like you are. But while I log in to my yahoo, gmail and msn accounts, I'm often logged in as invisible or away because I... am not really a chatty person. Like you, when I'm doing something online, it's kind of a bother for me to talk to someone constantly. I like focusing on what I do so I can finish it faster and go on to the next thing that needs to be done and while I do enjoy chatting to some people, I feel pressured to reply to every single one who sends me a query asking if I'm on, so I opt to become invisible. When I'm invisible, I can have the option to talk only to the people I feel comfortable talking to at that particular moment. It seems a little, uh, mean, I suppose. But I think it's better to not start chatting with someone when I don't have anything to say to them in the first place. Plus, I don't like to leave them hanging by simply not responding, so. Urk. That's often what I do, haha.

True. When I used to be 'online', I am mostly in the invisible mode too.

I used to back when my husband could IM me at work, and we would sometimes talk to each other on there, but his work does not allow it anymore, so I don't have any reason to turn it on anymore.

Yea. Many companies banned IM. They do not want the employees to be distracted.

I try to leave mine on as much as possible. A lot of people use instant messaging as a way to keep in touch. I don't just use MSN. I use a program called Trillian that allows me to use AIM, ICQ, MSN, and Yahoo all at once. If anyone annoys me on there I just stop talking to them. I don't tend to keep friends with people who annoy me.

Yea. Those annoying friends of mine belongs to the minority. Even though they are annoying at times, they are nice people.

Well, I usually leave my messenger on. Why? If your browsing the internet, and you get a new message, you can talk to your freinds while doing something else. This is great, because it prevents you from getting bored on the internet :) NOTE: If you leave it on, but are away from your computer, this is not always good. You see, your friend might be talking to you *or TRYING to talk to you* but since you are away from your computer, you can't talk. They might think that you are ignoring them, and can lead to arguments later. That's my advice!

Haha.. I used to have it on and then walked away from my laptop. When I returned to reply the messages, my friends were offline. I'm never bored on internet as I enjoy mylotting and am active in some other forums too. I also enjoy watching anime.

When I was younger, I used to have all of my messengers turned on all the time when I was online. The only time I didn't use them is if I was angry at someone and didn't feel like talking to them or anyone else at the time. However since I've gotten into college, I may have my messenger on but I don't always turn it so people can see that I am online. That way, I won't be attacked by people all the time. I mean after a long day with classes and stuff I'm not too interested in talking to a lot of people.

I used to do that as well. Turn on all my different messengers whenever I go online. But I rarely do that now a days. To me, the messenger is taking up way too much valuable space running in the background. Unless I know for sure that a friend is going to be online, we would be better off chatting via emails. But of late, after upgrading my PC, I am starting to run it again. I just log in and leave the messenger on. After coming out to work for quite a while, we are all no longer as active on the messenger as we used to be when were students. Heh heh...

Really? When I was a student, we were all either busy with our assignments, always discussions held over some sort of messenger. The most popular one of my time was ICQ. Every where you go, you will hear the "Orh-Oh" tune played as every one was busy sharing notes and chit chatting over the net. Then comes after the exam, it would be worst. More messaging, usually till very late in the night too!

It has more to do with my character.. I don't enjoy instant messaging and social networking sites as much as my friends.

Even as a student, I was not very active on Messengers. I've ever MIA one whole year from Messenger before when I was a student. Currently, I have not logged into MSN for around 4 months.

Yes! i have my gtalk ( for money making) on all the time when I'm online! And i keep getting messages at the rate of one every 3 mints! Some times some of the visitors of my blog talk to me when I'm online, some times i get messages saying that i got paid by some sites (very rare these days) , or saying that i got a new referral in mylot etc...

WHAT?!?!?! It's YOUR messenger. You can do whatever you like. Just because your computer is on and your internet is on doesn't mean that you're glued to your chair in front of the computer, right? Tsk tsk tsk tsk tsk...

I use MSN and AIM messengers and I turn them on because AIM has a lot of people that I like to talk to and MSN is the place that I get my email updates and a lot of people that I used to know well sometimes talk to me, so it is a great catch-up. No one nudges me, because I just shout at them and if that doesn't work then I block them. I tried Yahoo messenger, but that did not last as I did not like it and no one I knew used it.

I should try shouting too. It's indeed a good catch-up but I think I prefer to catch up face to face.

That's true too. I think I have such friends too and I hardly meet up with them as it seems awkward to.

They are not really people that I have spent time with, just people I used to talk to in school and maybe once or twice outside. So going out with them for day or so would be rather odd and "new" while catching up on the internet is safe and comfortable.

on msn messenger you can turn off the winks/nudges etc in your settings, then you can be online, or you can temporarily block that person, or you can sign in as appear offline and choose who you want to message! I am signed in msn all the time unless one of the kids is on here :)

Yeah. In fact, I use MSN, Y! and AIM all the time because I have diffrent people on all three messengers. Though rather then installing three separate ones, I just install Trillian, and it can run them all for me. Overall the greatest program I've ever used.

Yea. I've heard of that program. I think it's good too. Having 3 separate messengers can be confusing. It's good to have a program to manage them.

Yeah very useful for me as I have people on all three messangers who refuse to use anything but their messanger. So rather then cutting off some firends, I keep everyone happy.

yes, i do always logon to YM when i'm online, especially nowadays. i'm trying to help prepare for the wedding of my friends - the bride is in japan right now while the groom is in germany and they will be getting married here in the philippines. YM has been a very convenient tool for us throughout this process. =)
