Corn strippers that is. A while back we bought a set of OXO Corn Strippers. We just bought some corn on the cob and these things work great!! Boy if I was growing corn and was going to freeze it that would make the job so much easier. The corn is fantastic!

What does it look like and does it husk the corn or take the corn off the cob? That would be a good thing to have! Thanks for the insight!

Oh I forgot to mention they look kind of like a computer mouse. Very easy to handle and easy to use.

Boy does that take me back. I remember corn season when I was growing up. We would load the counter tops with corn, shuck it, wash it, blanch it, and cut ALL the corn off the cobs with regular paring knives before bagging and freezing it. It was a project that would start at 6 in the evening and end at 7 in the morning. We put up enough corn to get us through til next harvest. The reason your post caught my eye, is that I was thinking as I read it, "Good lord, I would have LOVED to have had one of those things during canning season!!!"My hands were so sore after packing that corn that I vividly recall rubbing BenGay on my hands that morning and promptly passing out, LOL. Yeah, a corn-stripper would have been awesome.:) Great post!

You never know when a kitchen gadget is going to be a jewel or a dud, until you try them. I do not feel that I have room to grow corn, but I sure could have used one (a stripper)the other night. One of my clients brought sweet corn from her family's garden, and her roommate does not have the ability to chew it off the cob, so I had to cook it, then use a knife to strip it. OXO always seems to have the best gadgets and tools to make the kitchen easier.

I'd be lying if I said that your subject line didn't grab my attention. LOL Funny stuff, there!!! I'm glad that they work I personally prefer corn on the cob, but you're right, If you are going to freeze it, it might be easier to do it that way than to keep it on the cob. Sounds like a good idea to me.

That tool is so neat! I have used the old-fashioned kind and they ended up being messier than just cutting them off with a knife. I love the little collection cup the OXO has to keep the kernals from flying all over. Great tidbit, sweetdesign!

You know, i am not really much a veggie eater BUT i can forsure eat some corn on the cob.. with a buncha buncha butter. yuummm:) the best os cooked on the grill. If you got what i am thinking, mabey its like alittle tool to help you take the corn of the stalk??... that would defiantly be a good tool to keep around if you eat lot of corn or live in the country and grow corn... i have never seen a tool for this.. is it what i am thinking it is??

The tool takes the kernals off the cob. It is shaped like a computer mouse so it fits in the hand nicely it also collects the kernals in the cup so there is very little mess. it is great especially for those who love corn on the cob but for whatever reason cannot manage to eat corn on the cob.
