I love sushi. My husband loves sushi too. His family hate raw fish, how about you? do you have any other favorite from Japanese food?

Sushi is one of my favorites, I have tried most, from salmon to squid. I live on the coast so the fish is fresh and something about wasabi, soy sauce and ginger that gives it just the right bite. Oh, and Sake makes all the difference! Of course you have to watch your wallet, you can spend money fast going to sushi!
I have been into Thai food lately too.... but that is another matter isn't it

I think people living close to the sea are lucky. Here in the desert fish isn't all that fresh once it gets here, mostly we get frozen fish due to the distance we are from oceans.

California Maki, Tekka Maki and Ebi Sushi.
I can't eat tuna sashimi or anything with raw fish, my stomach is very sensitive as I suffered from ulcer during my teen years.
My husband loves Japanese food, he could eat it all day!

My favourite Japanese food will be tempura. It can be prawn, squid, onion, sweet potato, green pepper, carrot, lotus root tempura, etc. I like to dip them in Japanese light soya sauce or mayonese and eat them with steam rice with bonita flakes topping. I don't like raw seafood too but luckily we have many varieties of sushi here with cooked seafood. Sushi is always served chilled but I prefer warm food. So I choose tempura over sushi.

My favorite Japanese food are sushi, sashimi, ramen and tempura. I am not used to eating raw fish but I love it the first time I'd tried. With sushi, I like squid(ika), tuna (maguro) but i hate the fish-egg (ikura). With sashimi, I like the same, ika and maguro especially if the maguro is from Philippines because it's kinda sweet. With ramen, I like the "tonkotsu" ramen the most. While I like all kind of tempura, from seafoods to vegetables. Try every Japanese food and I am sure you will have your own favorites too as well as dislikes (kirai)/(daikirai).

Oh my now I'm so hungry and I miss Japan even more...LOL!! I don't do sushi but some of my favorite dishes are katsudon: fried pork cutlet with egg, rice and, oyakodon: chicken, egg and rice, soba: steamed noodle soup, yaki soba:fried noodles with meat and veggies, chanpuru-made of meat, egg, veggies, goya and sprouts (only found in Okinawa) and Japanese curry. Going to make me hop on red-eye for some good eating.

My favorite Japanese food is NISHIME! It's so good, but a lot of people in Japan don't know what it is. It's basically a soup with pork, carrots, gobo (some sort of root, but I don't know the English word), konyaku (I don't know what this is in English either. It's kinda boingy like jello), lotus root, seaweed, shitake mushrooms, and bamboo.
