Do you read contents before responding?

There are discussions where subject titles are in question form and there are those that are not.
I think it's important to read the contents before responding so that there will be real coherence with the topic, although one time I did respond immediately to a discussion with a title in question form without reading the contents.
When you respond to discussions, do you read the contents before responding? Or just read the subject title and respond immediately without reading thoroughly the contents?
Good day mylotters!

I always read the contents of the discussion before I respond. Just like you said it was best to do this for your response to be related to the topic. However, there are times that I didn't read it all because it was too long, kinda read the first and middle part of the paragraph, although, it was quite rare of me to do that.

hi djoyce,
well, in the past, when i my number of post was still very few, i would try to post as many as possible, as fast as possible. so, i would just read the subject and immediately responded it. but you know, some discussions are tricky. the subjects sometime practically nothing to do with the descriptions. so i few times got caught responding without reading , and get nice scold from the starters.
now when the number beside my user name is not so embarrassing, i am slowing down. i try to find discussions, read the whole descriptions and respond them properly. well, i feel much better now

I always read the whole content of the discussion before responding so that i will know how she/he came up with that certain topic.Although sometimes, like you i also just directly answer the question on the title. But mostly i would really read the whole content.

Yes. always, I don't want to mislead the person who started the discussion. and how will I give a good feedback into his/her discussion if I would not read it.? I believe that a good reader is a good writer.

I always read the contents. You are right, it is very important. Sometimes what is in the title does not explain the whole contents. And if you just answer without reading in entirety, chances are you will look stupid because your resply is out of context. I've had a number few respondents who obviously did not read my entire post and I am really offended because their replies shows they did not take time to read the whole posts. Well it does not serve the purpose of posting. We post not just to earn but to share helpful ideas. How can we help if we are out of context and we do not know what we are talking about.

i try to read the contents before starting the discussion. that gives me an idea of what has been discussed so far n what more i can add. but if the content is too long i try to scan through it fast and get only the relevant things noted. i think reading the content always helps in responding to a discussion.

I do like to read the contents before responding to a comment. Because sometimes you can look at the title and you're like, oh I know what they are talking about and forget the reading and just comment and what you commented on has nothing to do with what they were talking about in their discussion. That has happened to me a couple of times and then I'm just like, I'll just read what they are talking about first. Sometimes what they are talking about in their discussion you may not know about, so when I get to that I just skip over. I started making my titles a little giving into what I am talking about so people can read my discussion before responding.

If its too long, I read up until the half part and get the idea then I reply to the subject. If its short then I read the entire content. I'm kinda lazy moving around the lenghty contents.

When i was new i never knew that the content and the head line would not sometimes get realted i just answered for the head line i was about to notice that some other things was in the body of the discussion i deleted everything went and wrote a correct reply only after reading it fully.. From that day till now i read the title and as well the body of the discussion i understand the discussion and respond it.. and that is my routine procedure..

From the time I am using MyLot I have read all contents, every single word of all the discussions I have replied. I know that some discussions have question like subject which explains almost everything but I still read every single word of the discussion, just to make sure that MyLot friend hasn't asked a question within his discussion.

djoyce hi oh I always read title and the contents as I muyself
often use a somewhat misleading catchy title so you must read
my contents in order to understand my discussion. I hate it when people say oh I read it if its short otherwise.... otherwise'you make dumb responses and I will ask you if you read all of my discussion as your answer does seem to say you did not read it..thisis rude of mylotters as I have never seen a discussion thats so long you could not take time to read it.

To be honest with your most of them I did in order to the point can idea for giving a response, however sometime I did not go though for every text just for scan and skim for only the main contents, and then write the comment for them.btw In my opinion I think everybody do read the content but might be diffent for the way or the method they use with this ...haha I am a new writer and not good as write at all so I have to take long time for go though ..so I gotta end my respondes at here without any clue haha
best regards
Have a nice day
