Do you go back and thank someone when they choose you as a best response?

I was just realizing that I always thank people for responding to my discussions but rarely go back and thank someone for choosing me as their best response! So for everyone that has ever awarded me with a best response. THANK YOU!
What about you? Do you make the effort to thank someone for choosing you as best response or not?

I'm quite guilty of not thanking the person who awarded me with the best response. I think I should do that from now on. Wanna give me best response, I will start with you James

I am guilty like you in not saying thankyou for a best response. I always try to go through the resposes to my discussions every week or so and thank every one but I am always so surprised when I get a best response that I forget to thank them. So if anyone has given me a best response and are reading this. I apologise for not thanking them. I will do so in future.

I really enjoy getting a BR... so much that I used to go back and thank everyone who gave me one. I no longer do that, especially if the discussion is very old that I am receiving it in. If it is a more recent discussion, and there is something else I can add to it, then absolutely I express my appreciation!!

Hehehehe, well, if I ever start another discussion and you get the BR in it you don't need to thank me for that either. I think that really everybody knows how much anybody else appreciates getting one!

I think you will find that the guidelines state that you should not JUST say thank you as a reply to a response. I never do that but I do acknowledge what has been said, discuss some more on the point made if it is appropriate and THEN say thank you. Much the same as I am doing now. There is no issue with doing this and if anything it inspires further discussion! Thanks for responding.

I do. Although until now, I'm still not sure how to do it best. Should I thank the person privately? Or should I post my gratitude in the same discussion where I got the BR? Either way, I just make sure that I give them my thanks.

I think I will be looking to thank them in the discussion itself rather than through a private message. They award me a best response so I will say thank you in their discussion itself and bump their discussion further up the ladder in gratitude so more people see it and they might get even more responses! lol. Thanks for responding to my discussion.

I must say a little shamefully and humbly that i am sort of in the same boat as you. There have been occassions that i have thanked, but more often have not. You started a discussion to thank them, I'll make sure i start doing it from now. Thanks for reminding me James.

I always thank someone for a best response and tell them I really appreciate it alot. It is just something I have always done. I am usually always kinda surprised to be getting them most times. But it is always good to get them.

It IS nice to get them, yes! I still thank people for a BR in most cases, but am also still reluctant to do it in cases where they haven't replied to me at all and just chosen me for it. In these instances, I'll either thank them in another discussion, or if I don't see them again, I'll just leave it be. Maintaining an attitude of gratitude is my primary goal in most cases though. Thanks for the comments mydewgurl.

I pretty much allways go back to thank people for a best response when I am active on mylot. This last couple of months I haven't been active because I have had a rough time personally combined with a very busy time in my studies. So I would like to see this as an oppertunity to thank the people who have denoted me a best response during this time and appologize for not getting back to them earlier.
Take care!

Lol, that's true! I am making an effort to get a good degree with which I can hopefully support parents and kids to live a good healthy live and take away as much disruptence as possible by giving them tips and advice on how to handle certain situations. No, I am not going to tell them that I know how to raise their kid (rasp), I am going to be as much of help as possible getting the most out of what parents allready got inside of them: the love, care and knowing what's best for their kids.
And I do agree, better late then never!

Wow. I haven't seen you for quite some time cyberfluf? These studies must be really hammering you at the moment! I hope they are going well for you. Anyways, I am sure people appreciate that some of us do actually have a life outside of mylot and a belated thanks is better than none at all I reckon! Thanks for responding and I hope that whatever rough times you have faced are rapidly becoming but a memory.

I have noticed that there are some people who do go back to a discussion and thank thank when they are awarded best response. It is a nice gesture and I probably should, but I must confess that I usually don't. I don't have any email notices turned on for this site or anything because I get so much mail (mostly junk) in my email that to get noticed from here as well would just be overwhelming. I therefore search for discussions that my friends started and things like that directly from the site here. As for best responses, I seldom check to see if I've received any so usually by the time I realize that someone has given me best response it has already been several weeks or perhaps even a month or more since I received it. By that time I usually figure that it is to late to go back and thank them.

I switched off email notifications for the very same reasons you did betsy. I was going absolutely crazy trying to wade through all the mylot mails and evey other mail I receive day to day. Now I have a section on my home page in mylot that shows me my best responses and I keep tabs on it this way. Where I do get slack though is awarding best responses in my OWN discussions. I always forget to do this and they build up and up. I really need to try to keep on top of that! Thanks for responding.

if they're on my friend list then yes, i send them a pm thanking them for giving the best response. otherwise i don't 'cos i don't have any means of contacting them. i guess i could post it on the discussion again under my own response but i often wonder if they would go back and read it. but i think it won't hurt. so the next time it happens that's what i will do. thanks for posting this and bringing it to my attention

You are welcome! It was just a personal observation of myself that I was always thankful in other areas of mylot but not this one for some reason? I wish to make an effort in my life to be far more grateful for everything so here is as good a place to start as any! Thanks for responding.

How odd! I've had people question why I'm sometimes always saying thanks, but never had someone tell me to stop! Actually, that's not true! Now that I think about it, I've had one particular member who's still here today ask me to stop saying thanks for the response. lol. SO I use different terminology to say the same thing!

Hi james, I don't always thank someone for choosing me for
a best response it depends. Sometimes it is from a discussion
that was from a month ago and I feel funny thanking someone
when it has been such a long time ago. It depends on who
the person is. If it is someone that is a friend I might
thank them. I have been thanked once in awhile, but
basically I don't think most people do thank people
for giving them best response. What do you think?

I agree that to go back to the older ones may be a bit late! lol. But I AM going to make the effort to do it from this point forward at least. I get thanked once in a while as well; but mostly I do not so it does not seem to be a popular habit for many. Thanks for responding.

I have ALWAYS made the effort to comment on and thank people for their responses to my posts but then realized I was not showing the same courtesy when I received a best response. At least now I can make the effort to change this! Yours is a good attitude to have and thank you for responding.

It IS a nice feeling, I agree! The only time I don't go back and thank someone for a BR is if they haven't replied to me response and just selected it. It looks silly to have two comments by me one after the other! But if they have replied AND chosen me as BR, then I will thank them.

Basically as a part of sharing we should keep on discussing untill a solution comes up for a discussion but due to many as many discussion we stop rather at one or two responses for single discussion. Thats truth too here at mylot !! But i believe atleast i am closing a discussion for what i have awarded BR by saying thanks

lol. I know many a member that just HAS to have the last word no matter what so there are times when the conversation will continue for a very long time! I agree that thanking someone for a BR can also add some closure sometimes and this is an interesting angle to consider. Thanks for the response rkrish.

hi james,
I do thank all who mark me as best response, for the reason that i dont always get that mark, for 4 month here in this site i got only 9 B.R. which is easier for me to thank them. And at the same time it is one way of showing my thankful appreciation.
