I like big digital camera because it looks much more professional. I don't mind it's heavy and big. I can stand its inconvenience. All I care is the photo result. These digital cameras will have more photographing features. As to the small digital camera, although it's small and very light. But it's not attractive for me.

Again, this boils down to individual preference.
I used to use a small compact digital camera. And I love the features that it provided. That is until I got a taste of the SLR. And I hungered for more.
So I got my first DSLR and have been having a whale of a time shooting pictures on it.
The compact range of cameras are also getting better and better with the advancement of newer technology. Many of them are already sporting SLR type of features. The only difference is that they lenses cannot be interchangable.
Otherwise, things like adjustment of ISO, apeture speeds, shutter speeds... etc can all be adjusted. And the pricing is really competitive too. With larger and larger megapixels being rolled out with each new compact, there seems to be some price war going on between the lower end DSLRs and the higher end compacts these days.

Good evening, youless. It happens to be opposite on my side. I love my digital camera small, thin and light. Based on this demand of mine, I got one such in the year 2004, when it was among the smallest, thinnest and lightest ones. It was very expensive then. It cost me close to five thousand RMB. But later a year later the price for the same type started to get cheaper and cheaper like more than two thousand. Now it seems that you can buy a much better digital camera with much less money in the digital gadget market. I have been thinking about getting a new one, but mine is still working so perfectly, leaving me no chance to get another one. I guess that mine will last me a long time before I decide to make my mind to get a cheaper, but better one.
Yeah, everyone has a differnt bias against his preferance on the same product. I wish you to get the one you prefer. Or maybe you have already got one you like so much for its being professional. Enjoy your camera.

I don't know how to take a picture with small camera. I take a lot of photos and I am very confused when people ask me to take a shot with their small camera.

Well, it will really depend on where I go and what I do that decides for me which one to bring.
With the smaller, slim cameras now packing more features than ever, it may not be necessary that a small camera will be any worse than a big digital one.
I too like big cameras as they tend to be able to give one more control over its settings. And I am assuming you are referring to DSLRs when you say BIG cameras.
Cos now a days, the point and shoot are also coming up with models that are similar in look and feel of a SLR, except that the lens are not interchangeable.
But these little babies pack heck of a lot of features too.
If I am going to a place to relax, and want to travel light, brining a DSLR along is a definite no no. As long as the smaller compact camera can do the trick of capturing a moment for memory, it would be good enough.
But if I am going to a place where I know that the scenery is going to be beautiful and the compact cannot do the place justice, then the DSLR will follow me.

I was telling my wife the same thing just yesterday.
If we ever retire our compact camera, I may consider getting one of the older DSLR low range models.
In fact, now, the lower end range for the Nikon is having a sale.
The D60, D40 and the D40X are all going at less than a thousand with a VR lens!
Really tempted to go get one to keep as a backup camera!

Hi youless! In my case, I really don't mind which one I will be using because I just point and shoot and don't know anything about the good features a big one has over the smaller one. haha..My husband on the other hand, loves big ones with all those great features and I guess, it is because he loves photography and he understand digital cameras better than I. haha..
Take care always..God Bless!

It's not the size of the dog in the fight that matters, but the size of the fight in the dog!
Size is relative: my Canon DSLR is huge next to my Panasonic compact, by people using Nikon DSLR users find the Canon quite small.
What counts is what you need the camera to do, not how big it is!

That was pretty garbled: sorry. What I meant to convey is that my Canon SLR is small next to my friends' Nikon SLR, but big compared to my Panasonic point-and-shoot. Of course, the Olympus DSLRs are really small...tiny! The E420 is not as big as a disposable film camera!

Hi youless, I admit that bigger digital camera has more functions and provide the better zoom and wide-angle lens facilities as well, so that we could take best quality photos all the time.
But for me it’s really a burden to carry such a heavy device during vacation unless my hubby is together with me then he could give me a hand to carry it.
If going outing with friends I prefer a smaller and lighter digital camera for the sake of convenience
posting and have a nice day.

I think I like a smaller one but not too small. I really don't care if it's a big one or a small one as long as the photo quality is good. Like you, all I care is about the photo result, it doesn't matter to me if it's big or small.

I discuss this question with my friend this summer vacation. When we had a trip, she carried a big digital camera and i took a small digital camera. She love big one ,she think it looks like more professional.but i love small one.I think it is easy to take.the only common groud is that we all ask for good quality and definition.

i have a professional camera and i must agree that it produces more nice pictures because you can manipulate how you want the picture to come out especially with the use of different kinds of lenses but the sad thing is because of adobe photoshop you can make outstanding pictures that you wouldnt even see the difference a picture taken from a digital camera to a professional camera.

Well my personal preference would be small, so it can be put away in a purse or somehwere that does not require a lot of space when not being used. I take cameras with me to most events i attend, and it is horrible to be stuck carrying it all the time.

I have a digital camers,it is a compact Pracktica camera.it is small and compact and easy to pop into a handbag or a pocket,I dont have a lot of knowledge of digital photography,I know the basics that are enough to enable me to take the pictures and then run them off via windows vista on to my laptop. My daughter will often take a digital photograph of my grandson and se will then attach it to an email ,so that we can see how he is progressing.I do need to buy another memory stick for my camera, and I could also do with sitting down and giving myself time to try and absorb the many functions that are on the camera, the light and shade, the video clips that you can compile etc.I have seen many people with the big Canon digital cameras, the zoom lens types, and I am sure that they can get a much better quality photograph that I am able to with mine, but mine is just for snaps for the family album,I sometimes put them onto a disk, and find thats an easy and tidy way of keeping them altogether,if they remain in a foldre on the computer they are more likely to vanish.I know I hear you say ,that I should have them backed up.

I like small digital cameras. I like them small so I can carry it in my purse. I like to take pictures when I go somewhere so its very convenient for me to carry it in my purse. Yes, they are lighter and they have pretty good features, good enough for me.

I like medium size digital camera. The one I have is Canon IXUS 75. Attach is a sample photo of the model. I don't like big ones as they are too bulky to carry around. And small is way too small for me. The one that I have is the right size for me. It can even go into my pants pocket. I really thank God for this camera that I have...hehehe...I can snap pictures alot.
