What will you do if you saw a man who's about to jump over the bridge?

Just in case you passed by a bridge and you saw a shadow at the end of it. All of a sudden you realized that a person was about to commit suicide. For worse, it's your algebra classmate whom you always seat beside with. He thinks he has no reason to live and would nevertheless care if his life will be ended. His chances of living will depend on your words. What words will you choose to convince him to go on with his life?

The first thing that I would do is call 911. I don't know what I would say to him though. People in that state of mind need proffesional help. I would try to talk to him and keep him from doing the act until the police and medics got there. Is this something that you experienced personally?

Nope, not at all...this is hypothetical. And if in case this happened to me in the past, I guess I would really find it hard time choosing the exact words to say. You guys are really of great help. At least through this I can sort out great ideas and arrange them accordingly. ^^ Happy mylotting!

If i will be on that situation, i will do a reverse psychology...Most people in that case has a bear in mind...There's something in their mind and they see that to die is the solution..Just talk to him,Say to him how beasutiful life is and show to him that might happen if he will pursue jumping on the bridge.

well, i will tell the person to not to give up and lose faith in life... there are lots of other people in this world who suffer more than him/her and they still carry on living... i will tell the person that there is always hope in Christ and nothing is too heavy to be carried in Him... if i can't stop him, then i will call the police... take care and have a nice day...

It's silly.... I would say to him, join him on the bridge and says bout the things to tempt him not to jump. How would everyone would miss him lots and his family would be so like worry and be made more troubled to his family. I would say that life around him could be meaningful find something that you could not achieve the previous year go achieve it and goes to the other goals that you wants to achieve in life.

i wouldnt really know.. i think i will call the police first since that is the logical thing to do.. i dont want to approach him because i might say something bad that will cause him to really jump.. arghh.. but guess i will have to be there in front of him to distract him from jumping and maybe talk to him that there is more to life than algebra, that i can be his tutor, help him.. etc2... oh.. i just pray that it would not happen to me.. well, i have finished college already so guess that's not happening anymore eh?hehehe

First of all I will try my best to not startle him because in that way he might fall off the bridge accidentally lol.Next I will approach him calmly and ask him why he thinks he does not deserve to live. I will thehn give him a lot of logical reasons why he should love his life and be thankful that he has been given a chance to live. I will be a true friend to him from then on especially if I can convince him not to jump hehe.

i never met this problem in my life.
if one day, i see a man wants to jump over the briage, i will try to persuade him to cherish life.
i will try to give adivce mentally.

I will try and explain Psalms 119:30 to him i."God loves just the way you are and but He loves you too much to leave you like that" I will say perhaps it will do him some good.I might consider calling 911 if it won't trigger his cause. I will try in any to create a motivational story to inspire and confort him.It might help till the cops get there.
