I will say first that this technique does not work well with affiliate links, I am sorry.
OK with adsense, first and for most you must place the ads in optimul places, I actually have a PDF explaining that and I wish I could add it to this discussion but I can't, so if you want the adsense PDF, yes you are going to have to PM me with your e-mail address (LOL, see my previous post today about PMing). Sorry.
Anyways, the top of the page and either the left or right corners are the best place for ads. You want to place in the ads in locations that can be seen without scrolling In addition adding ads to the middle of a discussion or at the end of a discussion are also good places.
As for traffic, you have to get your blog or web site out to the search engines in order for them to index it and get you listed. If you have not done so, add a site map of your site to google. I am trying not get this post removed, so google "google webmaster tools". Create an account, it is free and then upload your sitemap which can also be an RSS feed.
Next you will need to download a program called eMade Search Engine Lite (google it, sorry no links), it is also free and instructions are included.
This is a really good starting point and you should see more traffic within a couple days of completing these items.
If you want to track your site and see where traffic is coming from or how much you have, google "statcounter" again a free service, register and register your site and you will receive live up to minute statistics on your site. I like the map view personally.
If anybody has any other techiques to bring traffic to a site, I would love to hear about them.

I agree. these are the easy ones. Try comment John chow's, problogger and other popular high traffic sites. :) We can also write articles and post on popular sites.
And there are a lot more on the Net.
Thanks, anyway!I think the info is helpful to new bloggers here.

Very good information, and I'm definitely going to look closer to how I have things set up on my various blogs.
Do you know if blogger will allow you to add a statcounter? I never thought about that, but if I can do it, I'm sure going to.
