All politicans change their mind. McCain was against Bush's tax cuts before he was for them, he was for a woman's right to choose before he was against it, he said he didn't know much about economy before he said I don't know where you get the idea I don't know much about the economy. All politicans change their mind, flip flop whatever you wish to call it, and by all I mean Democrats, Independents, Republicans, and any other party you can think of.

This was in 2004. I don't think that he was ready to be president in 2004 either. As a matter of fact I thought that McCain was ready to be president in 2000, but I don't think that he is ready to be president today. Time doesn't always equal experience, McCain has digressed in the last 8 years, changing his voting record, and his views to suit his personal ego. Many of us that supported him in 2000 don't even recognize the man that calls himself John McCain today. Maybe we were all naive, and he was playing us for a fool the way he is playing republicans today. But, the man that ran in 2000 would have been a great president, I just wish that he still existed.

Maybe he was expecting for someone else, better suited for the job, to come along and that hasn't happened.
It takes a certain type of person to want to be the most powerful person in the world. All the candidates will have the same personality traits - egotistical, arrogant, will lie or bend the truth to get what they want, exploitative, etc. I think psychologists refer to these people as psychopaths.
Therefore I think all Presidential candidates are likely to be psychopaths, it's just a matter of which one is the best at convincing the electorate that they aren't psychopaths and are looking out for their best interest.

Politicians can change their minds, I suppose. I remember when Nixon lost the chance to be governor of California he said he would never run for another office. then a couple years later he ran and won the presidency

Oh my God! Someone said something at one point, and then changed their mind! WOW! That never happens! I can't believe anyone would do that! At least I know McCain would never chane his mind about anything... Oh wait he has! Everyone has at some point! Why does this matter?
