How often do you scraplift a layout?

Sometimes when I need a little bit of inspiration I'll check out what others have done. I have numerous magazines and books filled with beautiful pages. By the time I take a basic idea and change the papers, theme, and embellishments it's like a whole new layout. At that point only I know that the idea came from someone I'll never meet. Do you find yourself doing that too?

I don't think that I have looked at other layouts for inspiration but maybe I should. I was just looking at my scrapbook and all my pages are the same, or basically the same. So you have been my inspiration to go get a magizne or check some layouts online!

I just stared a new one and my plan is to do some thing different on every page or at least try! Nope I haven't moved yet. The house is for sale, my husband and I are getting divorced after all and I am staying here in PA so that my daughter can grow up with both Him and I even though I don't like him she does and deserves to see him more often then if we moved. So I am selling my house and going to find a SMALL apartment and move on with life!!

It's a lot of fun. There is nothing wrong with things looking the same in your books. Some of the professionals do that on purpose to give a certain album a cohesive look. P.S. Have you already moved?

I'm sorry to hear that, but you have to do what is best for both of you. You sound like a great mother. While it sucks to have to sell the house, it is better to have abrand new start, even if it is in a small apartment. At least you don't have to mow the lawn. Hugs!

Gosh it has been awhile since I last made a page but that is exactly what I always do as well . I seem to go through spells where I can't seem to stop scrapbooking and then end up putting it away for awhile for whatever reason and then it takes me awhile to get back into it again but it is something I enjoy doing very much when I am doing it . I just find it hard to do with the little one's around and would love to have a room in my house just for scrapbooking , maybe someday !! So many of my ideas have come from the inspiration of others but when I have a completed page it is my own idea added into it making it my page .

I know what you mean. I actually do have a room that is supposed to be for the computers and my scrapbooking, but a flood in a different part of the house has meant that my space is crammed with clutter and I can't seem to work in there. As a result, I can only get my stuff out when the kids are in bed, and clean it all away again before I go to bed. (A very small window at this stage in my life.)

I do that sometimes too. Only thing is when I get an idea off someone's layouts and try to do it the same way it never looks like theirs. I always end up doing it different then how I first started out. But I always end up liking my finished layout.

I think that's all that matters in the long run. Every so often I don't like how my page turns out, but thankfully I usually realize it before I've used the adhesive to stick things in place.

I do that sometimes also. Normally I look at the layouts at scrapbook.com and I find layouts that I like an element about, will add some of my own elements to it and come up with a new layout. Most of the time I come up with layouts when I'm not scrapbooking, so I have a small notebook I make sketches in and notes. All I have to do is flip through my notebook while I'm scrappin.

I love that idea. Any time I have a notebook and pencil with me it usually gets filled with my children's drawings. You sound so organized that I'm a little jealous.

Don't be too jealous, it's just that I don't have small children anymore, matter of fact they don't even live with me anymore lol. They are grown and out on their own, and they are scrapbookers too lol

I Have done this many different times. I took a layout from a magazine or one that I saw on a show and did it on my own and added my own ideas with embellishments and maybe even alter the layout slightly. LIke if they have a picture in one spot i'll move to another.

Great minds think alike! I do this as well Essie119. Often others' great work is a wonderful "jump off point" for me. However, I tend to fall in love with the colour scheme and go from there.

lol...I have never heard of being referred to as "scrap-lifting" I do get ideas from other pages often, but I will usually change it to my own creation. Sometimes we just need to be inspired and looking at others ideas does that for me!
