Which would you prefer in paying your electric bill?

Previously, we are paying our electric bills personally to Meralco brand or sometimes
to registered bank or agencies.
We have found it tedious process for us especially when we have no available
time doing so.
So, last month my wife applied for her credit card to auto debit the electric bills
and it is working great.
As long as you have the balance on your credit card to accommodate the amount
then it will be fine.
Do you have the same set-up? Which one you prefered?

I hate the auto pay where they take the money right out of your account when it needs to be paid. I like the fact of paying it my self because if you don't have the amount of the bill in your account when they take it out of your account you get charge with a over drift fee so your paying more then the bill it self.

Hmmm, I don't think Meralco doing such.
If you have no sufficient amount or credit line, then it will not work
and Meralco will send another bill with a barcode so that you will pay
it manually.
This had happen to my wife since at the start of her application, her CC is fully loaded and then she received a letter from Meralco informing that case, so they sent another bill for us to pay it manually to bank or agencies.

i always prefer to pay my bills using credit card... it is so much more convenient and easier to do rather than having to go to the post office or the bank... and it saves me lots of time as well and i don't have the time to go to the bank... i have full time job from monday to friday and i am already very tired after that... take care and have a nice day...

We don't use any kind of automatic bill paying. My hubby used to do that with almost everything. Then the companies started taking money before his pay checks were actually deposited. So now we're back to the old fashioned way. We write checks and mail them. Don't trust banks or credit card companies or creditors to do the right thing.

I am in charge of paying four Meralco accounts and I used to pay all four bills over the counter through a single check every month. I simply had to make sure that each of the four Service ID Numbers (SIN) are clearly written behind the check together with my contact number. I find it safer that way even at times when I can't personally do the over the counter trip myself. It was just so easy for me to send anyone else for the errand.
However, early this year, with cost cutting measures in mind, I enrolled all my regular monthly utility billing accounts to my bank account -- 4 Meralco, 2 SmartBro, 2 Digitel. As for my particular bank, I was told that I am only allowed to enroll a maximum total of twenty accounts for online bills payment service facility. Additionally, I opted to do my online payments myself and not to rely on auto debit system. Well, so far, so good...indeed, the set-up is working just so great for me.

I guess I don't have an electric bill anymore! Why? Well, I actually went into debt with the electricity company. I bill was just increasing and increasing and I could not manage it anymore. So, I chose to go onto a prepayment meter! I think this was the best decision that I made as I now know what I am using, and I don't receive any bills and that is just great. This is just my view but I think that it would be a bad idea to pay your electricity bills on a credit card! I used to have a credit card and I just cut it in half! The prices of electricity keep on going up now and this is bad! Are you absolutely sure that you have made the best choice as regards paying your electricity on credit card? I wish you the best of luck anyhow. Andrew

I prefer to mail a check as opposed to allowing the bank to do it. I want to be in control of it. I am afraid if there is not enough money in my account the bank will charge me an overdraft fee.

I used to have a direct debit set up to pay for my electric and then I received a hoorendous bill and because of oher stuff happening at the time I asked to be put on a prepay meter so I top up my electric each week at the Post Office when I pay my rent and the bill has now been cleared and I know I shouldn't get any more nasty suprise ones. This works for me. Ellie :D

Our electric company has it set up that you can go online and pay it from your checking account, debit or credit card whenever you want, or you can go on auto pay.
I don't do anything on auto pay, I want to control when it is paid, so I pay it from my checking account online. It is still much easier and cheaper than having to mail the bill (and worry about it being lost) or driving to pay it in person, which is obviously not cost or time effective at all.

Hi! Our family's quite a different setup. Since we go frequently to malls, my mom prefers to pay on SM's customer service center. Somtimes, we also pay on some bayad centers on the way just like in Shopwise Cubao's. We prefer paying there because it's along the way and we don't have to specifically go to Meralco just to pay. It's like we like to have fun along the way
Happy myLotting!

I once thought of doing just that... but i decided not to... since i do not really have any problems in paying my electricity bill... my landlady actually pays it and i just give her the money together with my rent payment... that is a very convinient set up for me... because i simply do not have time to go to the office to pay my bill...

I would never give a creditor of any kind direct access to my bank account. IF something happens, they take what they want and you do without until resolved. Yes, you might get it back, but look at the nigtmare it cause you inbetween times. I have two checking accounts at 2 different banks. I put in my pay check and all in one. THen each month or as needed, I transfer the amount needed to pay whatever bills to the other account (via cash) and then either send a check or a few (like a credit card wtih set amount) I will pay online. If something does happen to one of the bills, at least they only have that bit of money to mess with and only hte bills for that money are delayed and not my whole bank account. I know I sound paranoid, but it has happened to me before - once and never again!!!!
