Hmmm... Cooking disaster huh? There was one time that I was cooking rice and since I was really not feeling well that day and had no sleep for two days, I went inside my room and decided to lie down while waiting for the rice to be cooked. Well, unfortunately, I fell asleep... When I woke up, I panicked because I remembered the rice and when I went out of my room, the kitchen was full of smoke... Lol. Needless to say, I burned the rice to the point it was black. Worse thing was, neighbors thought that my place was on fire. Haha! That was embarrassing. The rice was so burned that I couldn't even use the pot that I cooked it in in the first place. That's how bad it was. Not only did I waste a good serving or food, I also destroyed a perfectly good piece of cookware. Trust me when I say my mom was definitely NOT happy when she found out that I ruined one of her best cookwares. Heheh.

Hey joy4you.... This is an intersting topic for people who are very new to cooking... I was a very anti-cooking kind of person and never found any interest in cooking.. we say time and responsibility teaches human everything to do.... It was a sunny afternoon and we were expecting some guests for lunch at home, i was about to cook cereals, i just washed the cereals and pour them in a pot and put it on the oven, i had the least sense that the gas was about to finish and it was almost half cooked when the oven gave its way.... now it was like a big stone banged on my head, wondering what can be done. I turned on the heater and put the vessel on it, and stood there cross fingered... thinking GOD just do something so that it is atleast manageable to eat.... But you know when the final dish was ready it was so so so YUMMY that i couldn't make the same dish again. So it was a special kind of food half cooked in oven and half cooked on heater....

I really do not think I've ever had any cooking disasters. I've never burnt any food, I've never caught anything on fire. I've done pretty well in the kitchen. The only thing that I can think about is that instead of following the directions on a box of noodles I was fixing one evening, I assumed it was the same as all the other boxes I had fixed and ended up cooking them the wrong way. Thankfully, they did turn out OK regardless of how I cooked them so it wasn't really a big deal after all.

One time I was cooking a chicken in the oven. My 2 yr old closed the lock to the oven and since the oven was already hot, it went into cleaning mode!! I had no idea how to get the oven open and the temp spiked! I had to open all the windows so that my house wouldnt' fill with smoke! It was a mess! We ended up ordering pizza that night.

Once I took a casserole out of the oven and placed it on the stove top and the dish shattered into about 30 pieces. It was a glass dish and the burner I set it on top of was still hot since I had just finished using it. What a mess! I will never do that again. Now when I take something out of the oven and I have used a burner recently I will place the dish on a cooking rack instead.

Usually I cook pretty well lol but I think the worst cooking I did was when I was a teenager and I decided to make turkey burgers. I had seen someone do them on TV and so I bought some turkey mince and mixed it with egg and make burgers. I think I forgot to season it though as when they came out from the grill they were completely tasteless and horrible! No one wanted them and so my Mum gave one to her dog. She seemed to eat them quite happily but then she went around the corner of the table and was sick all over the kitchen floor! My family haven't let me forget the time my cooking was so bad even the dog got sick!!!
