How fast do you get out of bed after waking up?

I'm really bad at getting out of bed in the mornings. Most of the time, when I first wake up, I'd just roll over and doze off again for another 5-15 minutes, after which, if I've had enough sleep, I would get up. However, if I've been sleeping for only, let's say, 4 hours, I'd probably repeat this process around two more times before I could finally consider myself rested enough to be awake. Which is why I usually set my cellphone alarm around 30-45 minutes earlier than the time I actually intend to wake up, otherwise, I would always be late.
How about you guys? Are you the type of person who can get out of be immediately after waking up? Or do you procrastinate like I do?

My baby insures that I get up quickly. If I do not go to get her when she wakes up she will cry until I do. So it is either move quickly or run the risk of all three kids being woke up and dealing with that at 5:00am. Not a pretty picture. The other two are awful cranky if the are ruddly awaken too soon. I prefer to at least have a couple of more hours of peace. So I just jump up and get her before the damage is done. But even before kids I tended to get out of bed pretty quick otherwise I tend to get really lazy and feel that way for the rest of the day.

*lol* The classic "Five more minutes, Mom" line. Yes, I've used that quite a lot. Though sometime five turns to fifty and I find myself late for class/work.

I used to get right up when the alarm went off. Now, I can't seem to hear the alarm or the phone ringing if I am asleep. I hate to go to sleep because I know that I will sleep too long. I can't go to sleep at night so I stay up late and then I tend to sleep late. I tell my Mother to wake me up and to not let me sleep late because it will ruin my day.

Waking up is definitely different from Getting up
I wake up almost immediately after hearing the cellphone alarm but my usual immediate reaction is to snooze my alarm at least 2 times.
Each snooze lasts for 9 minutes. Thus, I usually Get up around 20 minutes after Waking up.

Hello nekonyanta.
Gosh, if your alarm is going off after you've gotten only 4 hours of sleep, shouldn't you go to sleep about 4 hours earlier than you do to get more sleep? No wonder you have such a hard time arising--perhaps you aren't getting enough sleep.
I do not move all that quickly in the a.m. But, if the alarm goes off and it's a work day, I get up within 60 seconds and head for the shower. If it's not a work day, I might read the newspaper in bed and watch "Good Morning America" for a bit. Usually after laying there an hour, I'm ready to get up. But, again, that's only when I don't have to go to work and don't have something scheduled to do.
Good luck with getting out of bed. Take care.

I uesd to be one of those that would hit the snooze alarm 10 times before I would ever get up but now when the alarm goes off I get right up as I want to make sure I have plenty of time to get the kids up and ready for school, My son is one of those who just rolls back over and goes back to sleep unless you threaten him with an earlier bedtime!

Wow, that's admirable of you. Your kids are so lucky. =) I'm glad I'm way past having my Mom threaten me with an earlier bed time to get out of bed. =)

Not too fast. I'd probably end up falling down, lol. When I wake up it takes me at least 15 minutes to adjust to the lighting and being conscience. It's hard for me, though. I don't know how some people can just get up and start bouncing around, lol. I usually watch TV for a few minutes too, just to see what's going on. That's kind of my routine, I guess.

Really? That's quite admirable. =) I've tried doing that too -- placing my alarm clock far from my bed, but it didn't really work. I'd just walk back to bed and curl up under the covers once again after turning it off.

I actually sleep in on weekends, too. And, though we don't have winter here, it takes a whole lot of effort to pull myself out of bed when the weather gets cold, awake or not.

I'm guilty of hitting the snooze alarm several times. The latest I can possibly sleep in is 8:30 in the morning, so my first alarm is set for 7:00. When that alarm goes off, I can look at the time, tell myself I still have at least an hour and go back to sleep. I disable that alarm and wait for the next one. The next ones are set for 7:30 and 8:00. I'm paranoid about not waking up in time, so that's the reason I have more than one alarm set. I hit the snooze button as many times as I possibly can until 8:30. I have to gradually wake up. I'm not able to jump right out of bed as soon as the alarm goes off.

yes me too. it's so difficult to wake up in the morning. if i don't have to work, i will not wake up so early. however, i have no choice but to wake up. or else i will definitely be late. my morning ritual is somewhat similar to yours. the alarm will wake me up, but i'll go for snooze. that'll be another 9 min before i snooze again. i only wake up the second time and drag myself to the bathroom. the only time i'll jump out of bed is when i overslept. cheers ;p

Well, sometimes,I will wake up and get up just as soon as I hear the alarm. Or, when I am very tired, I will procrastinate on getting up. I will wait for about 10 more minutes, then I will get up. But prior to looking at the clock right on spot, and I see that I don't have enough time, I will just get up, no questions asked!

I usually get right up after waking up because my bladder is full! I've done the snooze slap tons of times though. I try to set my alarm clock across the room so I have to get up to turn it off, that will help me stay up. Setting your cell phone alarm is good too, it gives you a different sound to wake up to. Now go back to bed.

Since I don't have to get up at any particular time in the morning, I just lie there until I feel like getting up. Only when I have to awaken for a particular time, will I set the alarm and get right up. I use my cell phone and put it in my bathroom, which is part of my bedroom suite. It forces me to get up and go there to turn it off, so I will make sure I am up. Otherwise, I might roll back over.
