i know that all music can be a little depressing depending on what the song is about and what the music is like but most people say that country music is what is depressing and i don't think thats always true because a lot of country music makes me think of what i have and makes me really happy and puts me in a better mood and its just things like that that makes me happy, country music really does make me happy a lot of times more so than makes me depressed...so what about all of you? thanks for taking the time out of your day to stop by and read and review my discussion and i hope that you reply to my discussion and i hope that you all had a great day and that you have a great night tonight, once again thanks for taking the time!

Hi there... Hmmm.. I don't think that country music is depressing. There are a lot of country singers that I like. I guess my definition of "depressing" music would be songs that cut "through the heart". Mostly different forms of love songs that either have or had bearing on your life. Like maybe a song that was dedicated by an ex love... Or maybe songs that reminds you of a sad time... Those are the songs that I find "depressing". I wouldn't call it depressing actually... I think the right word is sad.

Hello jhl. I don't think that there is so depressing music on my side because it all depends on my mood. I mean, if I feel good, whatever music I listen to, it won't affect me much, but if I am not in a good mood, any music can make me depressed, especially the kind that reminds me of the sad moment.

I really get my kicks out of depressing music. It feeds the soul, so to speak. I listen to a less common genre called 'indie sadness' or 'indiecore'. I just find that this type of genre are expressive in what I'm constantly thinking in my daily life. There are songs by Elliott Smith called 'I Better Be Quiet Now' and 'Pitseleh' that get me choked up, but so does all of his other songs.

I don't think that country music is the genre that has a lot of depressing music. I think every kind of music, from pop to rock or whatever have their own depressing songs. To me, it's more on the song's lyrics or what that song used to symbolize for me that makes it depressing. I have a playlist that I play when I feel like wallowing in self-pity and then I take a deep breath and bust out that smile again.
