I just heard the news and maybe some Filipino members here knew it already.
One mom killed her 3 kids and after her kids were killed she went to suicide too. According to her suicide note she had done it cause of the poverty. One of her kid the oldest I think was lucky to slept to her grand parents and not become a victim too.
Upon hearing this news I felt really sad. I don't think it was right to do. Though I can't blame anyone of that incident. Now, according to the news also the family was getting support or help from other people. I just hope that the help has come before that tragedy happens.

I really did not hear about that sad incident.Poverty is killing a lot of people these days, people are telling that the world is developing and developing. But actually those developments are not uniform, this is giving problems like poverty and job losses.I feel very sorry for that Kid who has lost his mom.Let us pray to God to help that Kid come up in his life.God Bless all those people who are suffering

Its quite shocking and tragic what lengths some people wil go to at times of real desperation. Poverty in this day and age simply should not be an issue but unfortunately its a very big problem. I was watching a piece on tv about the philippino capital of manila where young children and babies are forced to sleep on streets with no shelter and probably very little food. The only way they have to survive is through begging for money, it was one of the most heart wrenching things i've ever seen. I hope the world authorities do something soon so these people and may more around the world just like them no longer have to live in such squalid conditions

She may have thought her situation was too desperate and the kids needed to be spared. She obviously suffered from depression due to the situation. For some it's very humiliating to accept help and support from others. This is very sad as the situation might have turned around.

I heard that news,It is another case due to poverty. The mother is problematic about her husband that for almost one month her husband did not send money for their allowance and also problematic about their debts.Poverty is the main problem of the country.I just do hope that the government should take more actions regarding with this cases. We are just lucky that we have good job and suitable income to the needs of our family.I am just pity to the family of the victim.

Poverty issue is really a big problem in our country (Philippines). The fact that we have the worst head of state. To think she is an economist, but her profession is null because it has nothing to do to improve our economy. The worst, it even get the situation worst, tax here and there, tax out of the income of employee, even the food also has tax over its prices, almost everything has its tax over it. The people has to pay 3 levels of taxes, that is so to speak. But where did all these taxes go? We could have gone rich out of those taxes, but we remain poorer and poorer. The incident of the mother and her kids is just one of the aftermath of the unhandled situation we face due to this economic instability. If only those taxes are funded over projects that could uplift the life of the people, that could not be happen.

I also agree with you. The president does not really know how to handle situations and to practice her knowledge in economics here in our country cause if she does we will all feel the good effect that it gave to the country but sadly she keeps on caliming that the economy were going better yet the prices and the peso rate was worst.

Maybe she mean that her pocket gets better and better, that I pretty much understand. This country has tough luck, thanks to those who work overseas that feed lots of dollars for the economy. I could not imagine how this country looks like if those people are not around. An economist who can't even do nothing about the economy, what a profession.

Hey ayessa Really it is a tragic news for every human being. Such action on the part of a mother is extreme and last stage of her patience. Poverty is a very ugly chapter of life and those who have seen /faced poverty they can imagine. Such action can be termed as desparate action on the part of a mother and we can imagine how much she has suffered and at the extreme point where there is no point of survival then she took such a hasty decision. It is horrible. From her point of view it may be right but we people or our society will blame her for such decision. We only can console .

Hi ayessa, This is very sad news when something like this has to happen. Poverty is such a terrible thing when there is so much waste in the world, and so many people with more money than they spend in four lifetimes. We need new world leaders who have the wisdom to see that what helps one helps all, and that this world can produce enough, and does produce enough, to meet the basic needs of everyone. Blessings.

There are many poor people in the world. No one has the monopoly of the thing. It is cowardly to kill oneself and criminal to kill others especially your own children. I hear a lot of people saying it is better to beg than to steal. Both are wrong. God has given us all the capabilities to make a living. A simple calculation would tell you if you have enough income to start a family. People just don't think at all and do drastic things when things don't go their way. I have been jobless for eight years but I did everything to make some money and even though there were desperate moments I always said, "it is up to God to kill me". I don't have that right. I will suffer if I must but blaming others for my lot is not my way.

Its not really the poverty, its her state of mind.
No poverty has to be forever permanent and if you have the right state of mind you'll never resort to killing.
I'm always amazed at how people blame someone's condition in life for unreal actions.
Its the state of mind or attitude that makes all the difference.

It is sad and alarming that cases like this happen.Problems indeed push us to the limit and to the brink of temporary insanity (sometimes permanent). We can only do so much. Often we are caught unaware but these cases also make us realize how fortunate we are, how blessed our families are. Daily we complain.Daily we are discontented.Yet, if we count our blessings, we would gear our mentality towards positivism.
I was complaining I had no shoes until I saw a man with no feet.

i just read about this minutes ago from a fellow mylotter...
i haven't really heard this news..
but all i can say is that the mother was being unfair to her children.. she shouldn't have done it.. there are other ways to solve such problem and taking away her children's life is definitely not the right solution.. there are always people who are willing to help..

Yes it is sad to hear. But just for everybody's info once in a while there are people in the Philippines who does the same thing. But many have failed attempts to kill themselves, this is no exaggeration, most of those desperate people who's about to kill themselves climb up to high towers then there they would stay for awhile while plaaning to jump down, glad many have been saved. It mostly happens to desperate people who feel helpless, because of poverty, hunger and sometimes because of a broken heart. That's why I don't understand why some folks simply keep on denying that the country is getting worse and worse. I can't imagine millions are getting hungry here in our country knowing we are were once a rice importing country and food was overflowing here and its supposed to be the same now. I try to help some but I can't feed all of the beggars here in my area or country. It's just so sad to see and feel how my country men are suffering it's just painful to see a mother killing her children because of hoplesness

That is so very sad. I think over there that they do not have the programs that they have in the USA, even though there is poverty here, too. The difference is we do offer support in better ways.
I wonder if she just did not reach out for help, if she did and received none, or she was mentally ill and this brought her to this point.
How very sad for those left behind. They have to live with her decision.

Oh my goodness...The oldest child will have problems growing up most likely, even the little doubt in his mind that probably says to him, "Why didn't mom kill me too? Did she want me to suffer?"
Crazy, I know, why would ANYONE think that, right? Doubts are doubts.
Everyone asks themselves at one point or another, "Why not me?", and this is unfortunately, the thought that will be going through this kids' mind at one point or another.

how sad, but I think even if they are so more she should kill her kids.there are still lot more ways, she could bring her kids to adoption centers where in they could eat 3 times a day in there in if they were lucky they could even have a new family that could support there needs.. she just so cruel.
