The Boracay tragedy

Our recent visit to Boracay Island was fun. My wife and I had a great time. It was packed with people from different places and the nightlife too, as usual, was cool. We could've had a hard time with the hotels if my wife did not call in early for reservations. When we got there, every hotel in all stations was booked. Luckily we had one in station 2. The weather too, was very nice and my wife had had a great tan. When we got home, the day after, the weather suddenly turned bad. When we checked the local news, it seemed that a typhoon had hit on the island. Indeed it was hit, and it was hit real bad. We wondered how all those people there were doing. The following morning, news flash and footages of Boracay was broadcast. It was a bad site. All the stores, and the small hotels and cottages were ruined. There was no electricity and water. There were no means of travel from the island as it was canceled by the authorities. It was the worst vacation ever for those who were stranded for more than a couple of days without water, electricity, transportation and limited supply of food. Lucky for us, we decided to go home just a day too early.. and my wife was one month pregnant that time.

You're lucky you went home one day early. My friend and his girlfriend were there when the storm hit and they had a really bad experience. They were out to sea in a boat when the storm hit. The weather was ok when they went off to sea but then the weather turned. The wind was so strong that the mast of the boat broke and almost hit my friend. They were so terrified but at the same time angry because the guys on the boat were laughing at them.

That's too bad. You know these guys should know that their customers are not all that tough when it comes to seafaring and weathers.

Well I guess you were lucky for being spared from that discomfort. Did that just happened recently? Well I think Boracay for now has recovered from it and is back in business I guess.

Really lucky. It was in July. Boracay was back in business just after a week.
