I have read somewhere that a book is one of the things that you could buy used. After all, the article argued, after reading it, you don't have much use for it. Do you agree with this?
For me, there are books that I buy new. These are usually the ones that I can't wait to lay my hands on. Books written by the authors that I really like. Then there are books that I buy used. Most of the novels and mystery books that I collect, since I know that there would be one or two of their genre that is available, I buy them used.
What is your style of buying books?

I think when it comes to buying books it is okay to buy them new and used because as long as the book is in good condition you do not have to worry about there being something wrong with it,and if you get it from someone you trust like a well known book store you should have no problems,me and my fiance just bought a used copy of a book called Unto A Good Land by Vilhelm Moberg which is the second book in a saga of books are reading.

most of the time, when i try out a new author, i would first buy used book. as i do not know if it is really that interesting, so i would want to pay lesser for the book. but if it is a author i like or a series of books i am collecting, i would always try to buy it new. so that it would seems more like a personal collections. but sometimes when some books are no longer in print, i had to go ebay to purchase the used book.

I buy new books I plan on keeping..books that are a series....Favorite author and such...and I also buy used books..It doesn't really matter to me though..I love to read and I find them at thrift stores, yard sales, and I get them for a small price at our library..I get both hardcover and paperback...
When I finish reading them I share them with my neighbor...

When I buy books, I typically buy new. I rarely ever buy books, though. I usually check them out at the library or borrow them from a friend. I only buy new books, if it's an author that I really love and know that I will like the book. I don't have a lot of spare money, so I don't want to waste what little I have on a book that I don't know if I'll like. Book prices are just sooo expensive nowadays.

Good books come with a hefty prize tag these days and hence book lovers like me find it very difficult to buy new books all the time. But I don't want to curb my passion of reading because of money so I buy books from places where there is sale or where they sell used books. I mostly buy used novels and story books but invest in new ones when it comes to books which require frequent reference.

I usually buy used, since a book is one of the best stuff to buy second-hand as it won't be in a "very" bad shape. It's still readable.
Also second-hand books are much cheaper than their originals, and they're not much different, so then what's the use of buying them new?
Used all the way! :)

This year was the first year we bought textbooks for my highschooler. Instead of lugging his heavy textbooks back and forth from school everyday, we decided to buy a set for home. So, after searching the thnternet we found the same exact textbooks. They had both used and new. We went with the used and saved atleast $60.00 a book. Nothing wrong with them either, they are in good condition.

In many area's it is hard to find a good used book store. I like to buy books used because most of the time I only read a book once. If you like to read books it can be expensive especially if you do not have a decent library in your area (I live in Mexico) In my town in Mexico, the Americans and Canadians here have a used book sale once a month where the proceeds go to taking care of stray animals. I always bring books I no longer want to trade.

I usually buy my textbooks and novels that I have to read for school used because they're expensive and the used ones aren't in bad condition.
Aside from books that I have to get for school, I don't really buy books. I usually borrow them from the library. I don't have leisure time to read because of school and all of the readings that I have to do. Hopefully I get more time to read after I graduate.
One thing I can't do is sell my books though lol even textbooks. For some reason I can't part with them even if I won't be reading them any time soon.

It depends... There are times when I have to buy a new book however, since there are a lot of used book stores in my place, I try to check them out as often as I can. Most of my books come from second hand stores. I've actually gotten some real good deals on really rare books... What's great about this is that a lot of books that I've bought look almost new!
I've been a bookworm since I was a kid and have surrounded myself with a lot of them. I would beg to disagree with the article that said that once you read a book, that's it. If you're really into reading, you don't only get to read a book once, a real book lover reads it more than that. I have a varied collection of books ranging from technical to novels and such. My favorite books would be mystery novels and inspirational books. I also read anything that has substance and that can challenge my mind to think.

Like you, there are books that I want to buy it new, usually, works by my favorite authors and can't wait to read it once it was released as well as classic or rare books. But there are books like romance novels that it is okay for me to buy it used as long as the pages were alright and covers are not torn, I am okay with it.

I'm a fifty fifty person. Half the time i buy new and the other half i buy used. It doesn't matter to me if its new or used as long as its in good condition. I do have to say i prefer to buy used books because they are usually cheaper, although sometimes its hard to find the books i want in the local used book store.

I buy a lot of used books as I read alot and cannot always afford to buy new. I do read my books more than once though and often swap them around family and friends too.

I love to read books, but unfortunately, I can only read them once. So I usually buy them at a used book store. A lot of times, they will take back the old ones at a reduced rate, so at least you can use the credit towards the new ones. Another way to get books is garage sales. Sometimes you can buy many books for a couple of bucks.

It is good to buy new books. We can use the new books for along time. It is better don't to go the second hand books. It is good to buy new books. If we buy old books it will be damaged already then some more damage will occur we can use those books for short time only. If the old books are good it is better to buy that books who have less amount. No one can say buy new books only it will be some economy problem so those people can buy the old books.
