i'm an university student in the third grade.this term,i have less classes than last term.so i plan to take a part time job.but my parents opposed my decision.they said i should study hard so that i can pass the certification exam and get the certification.you know,in China, certification is a way to prove someone has ever accepted vocational education.then can make he get a good job after graduate.so my parents hoped i can get that certification first.what should i do?should i take a part time job?

It depends on your ability to manage your time. If you have more than enough time in your hand, then you might as well put your idle time to use. However, if your parents are really opposed to the idea, you should listen to them especially if they are the ones who are paying for your school fees and other expenses.

Well, as far as your study is considered you, should do that first. Do as your parents are saying, but since you want to do a part time job, i think mylot is a good place to earn money..you can try doing job only if you feel that you have free time..

You are a university student. You are old enough to make this decision. If you think you can handle the course load, and a part time job try it. You can always change your mind later. Your parents have a good point. Many students cannot do both well. But you need to figure it out for yourself. It is a step toward true adulthood.

If you are really not in need of money I don't think its a good idea for you to take up a job. Once you are working you are get distracted and tend to concentrate more on the job rather than studies. You still have plenty of time to work. Why don't you consider taking up other additional courses instead. The only advantage of working at this age is that you gain exposure to the industry world and would have gained some experience.

i think you can arrange your time to study and work, if you did that well, i think your paren't will not be opposed. your exam is important, but the part time job is another good way to study in society. after more than one years, you will work, i think you can make more experiences before you into the work, i think you can tell your parents you can hold these two thing. and tell him society is another way to study.

your parents are true. you need not take up a part time job. because since your parents are supportive and they want you to study best, you better study first and get excellent grades with which you can have the best future and good job with excellent pay. when you have support why take up a job and create/add yourself as one more competitor in the tough job market.

If you think you can manage the time between study and work, than I think taking part time job will be a good idea. Not only you can get experience from working, you also will know how to manage your money. Besides that, you also will learn to be independent.

My advise to is you shouldn't go for work if you are a person who can not manage time very time but if you can do so. You can go for a part time job. For I will choose to continue study because after you get the certificate there will be a lot of time for you to work. Do you know we only study for 24 year but if you go for work it will be at least 30++ right. So, you should for think on yourself, we only can give u some opinion but you need to carefully consider it. This is a big decision because it may be will affect your life.Between two you must choose one be a student you can't choose just try to look as far as you can see which road is more suitable for . This is all I can tell hope my opinion can help you up. Thank you.
Happy mylotting.

If you do a part time job you can earn some money. You are just a student at the moment and I think your requirement are fulfilled by your parents. If you earn money they will be Bonus. But if you get addicted to money you will spend time for earning money than studying which makes your future little bit out of the road.
If you are confident enought that you can stop earning when you have to study then go ahead and do a part time job. Otherwise enjoy the leasure time and spend some more time to proactive studying.

i always meet the same condition as you.i think that i have been an adult already so i can take a part time job to earn some money on summer holidays.but my parents say that i need to relax and take a rest on holidays,at home i spend most of my time on TV which i think it is wasted my life and energy but have nothing to do.
taking part-time job can make us have enrichful exprience at society but our parents can not understand us .
what should we do can change our parents' view on part-time job?

Christina, in every choice and decision we make in our life will come with it's own consequences wether it is good or bad. As a university student, I think you are mature enough to make wise decision on your own. There are several considerations you have to make, you have lesser classes but do the subjects tougher and need more time to study on your own? if not, it's ok to do part time job as long as the job will not disturb your study time and it would be more beneficiaries to you if the job is related to you study field which soon will help you gain experience and will be good reference when you are applying job after your graduation. Try to talk to your parent and explain the positive and negative effects of your decision. Best of luck to you.

Well, if you think that you can manage your time properly between your studies and your part time job, then get a part time job. You can also try some online part time jobs where you can work at home anytime you want, but beware of those scam sites of course. If you are interested in a real online part time job, then just let me know..

Hello Christina
I'm also a student in my last year and I advise you not to get a part job. You should focus on your studies know and after you will get your certification you will have time to work all your life. For know enjoy the time spend on the university, party hard, study harder because after you will finish your studies you will miss this time and will regret that you got a job instead of enjoying the student life.
Take care and have a great day

I think it's a good idea for you to have a part time job. I was a tutor for a high school student when I was a college student. It's my part time job.
First, you will understand money doesn't come easy. And you will know how to spend your money in a good way. Second, you will learn more working experience and it will be beneficial for you after graduation.
I love China

Sure, go for it. Just don't take a parttime job that requires a lot of brain power to tackle. Take maybe a job that involves menial labor. Maybe lifting, or something to that sort. Something that won't make you "lose focus". If anything, if you can land a job where most of the time you're by yourself working & it doesn't require much thinking to do it would be perfect.
Hope this makes sense,

You should be able to understand yourself better. I've always been in favor of having extra money, so a part time job shouldn't be so bad. Just make sure that the company understands that your number one priority is your studies. Some companies don't mind adjusting to students' schedules and work load. I hope this helps, and good luck!

if you think you can balance your time for studying and working then go for it. but if you think that you'll risk passing the certification exam, then i suggest for you to concentrate on your studies first. besides, by passing the certification exam, im sure you'll get a good job so dont risk it if you know that getting a part time can affect your concentration for the exam.
