I have too many keys. I used to bug my hubby about his huge key chain with all the crap on it. Now I am just as bad. Actually I am worse. I have keys for two houses and four vehicles on it. I have 6 rings all attached to each other and then there are the assorted fobs hanging off of it. In my defense my hubby put a couple of those things on the chain! I think today is the day I throw the things I don't need off. Purge the key chain! So tell me are you one of those people with like two keys on a bare ring or are you like me and have a key chain that could anchor a boat? Maybe you are one of those people that hang your keys from your belt?

I have two key chains.. one for leaving the house which has keys to the back and front doors of the house and a key for our vehicle. My other key chain has the garage key and two keys for our old vehicle which we still use as a spare.. That's it! And when I leave the house I have just the one key chain and no purse to carry.. Travel light! That's my motto. I used to be able to fit all my belongings in a backpack.. well, that was a long time ago!

Someone told me, or I read once, that the more 'things' we have, the more we have to take care of.. I never forgot that.. Course there's plenty to take care of anyway! I used to think it was a good thing when I was raising my kids, that we weren't wealthy, as I'd have spoiled them rotten, never having been very good at being a no person..

I have too many keys on my everyday keychain as well. I really ought to do as you are, and purge it again. All I really need are two keys... my house key and my mail box key. I keep an old digital watch attached to it too, as well as a neat little flashlight I got from my Avon lady. The actual main keychain piece is one of those cloth numbers you can hang around your neck. It's a terrible lime green, but it also makes it super easy to find in my purse, as well as the obvious handiness of having it around my neck.

HAHAHA My sister had lots of keychains (collector) but only one key. Her keys probably weight a good five pounds. Wouldn't say mine are too heavy. I have a few keys on it. The mail, car, two doors, and two lock keys. I also have a chapmans charm and a weight that someone gave me when I was 15 to protect me when I worked the late shift in the city. I keep it there now so that I know if I don't have the keys cause I feel a lot lighter.

I like my key chain to be big and full so when I reach into my purse I can find them right away and not have to search. There was a time that I didn't keep a bunch together and once I had to dump out my whole purse to find my car keys and it was winter out and a really cold day and I froze my fingers and I was so mad because I couldn't find them right away. So now I have put all of my keys and key chains together so I have one big clump to grab easily from my purse.
I have also cleaned up all my keys and threw out a lot of old ones that I didn't even remember what they were for. I bet I threw out about 10 keys last week, that I had no clue.

lol not me, i was starting to get a rather large collection of keys, but then i seperated them all and grouped them together on different, small, carribeans, and then put some hooks up by the door to hang them on so that for the keys i may only need once in a while i can just grab it off the hook when i need it.

I used to be until a starter in my car went twice and not too far apart. My mechanic told me that it was really bad for your starter to have a lot of weight on your keychain. Now, I just carry my car key and my house key with no cute little dangly things.

Since the locks on all the doors in my house are broken, and I no longer have a car, just my bicycle, I don't have a key ring or any keys... except for the key to the universe, and I keep that stored on my hard drive.

Then obviously it was not the key to the universe, it was the key to vortexes, hehehe. It was wise of you to throw it out!

Well I am the total opposite to you!!I have two keys on my keyring, and both are house keys, and that all I have .I am the worlds worst as when i go shopping I tend to shove the keyring on my finger, and then leave it on there, and one day im going to arrive home to find its vanished lol..and im going to have to go back to town in search of it!!

Hey whywiki, I don't have alot of keys on my keychain but I
do have alot of stuff on it which makes it heavy. I have
taken some of the unnecessary stuff off from time to time
and put it on my extra key chains to try to break it down
a bit. I also stopped buying those extra cute things that
I see to put on the key chain, which helps. I only have
3 keys on the chain itself so it really shouldn't be heavy
at all. It's funny how we manage to make our key chains so
complicated! And I would never hang keys from a belt, mostly
because I never wear one!

I have a key chain like that I don't carry it anymore, I separated my keys, a service man saw my key chain and told me that heavy keys on a chain will damage the ignition of a car. I remember hearing a sound every time I started my car. I took my ignition key off and put it on a separate chain I don't hear it any more. I carry the other keys in my purse.

My dad used to tell me that about the ignition too. So then I would nag at my hubby about that too and he thought I was crazy now I am just as bad as him! I do think it is bad for the ignition though, I just think if I separate them I would probably lose them.

I used to have a bare key chain but it slowly started seeing more attention everyday. I got a safe, then a motor bike, and lock for it, and then a car, and then my apartment... so now I have a lot of keys as well... I wouldn't take any off because I lose things lol. I would lose an important one and I would go looking for it only to find I must have thrown it out 2 months ago lol.

I don't like carrying too many keys. However I do looooove charms. I have a lot on my cellphone. My cellphone charms are almost as heavy as my cellphone. They tinker when I walk and everybody knows when I'm near :D
My keys... they stay in my wallet where they're safe and I don't have to rummage in my bag every time I need them.

I used to carry all of my keys on one chain, until I lost the blooming thing!
It cost an absolute fortune to have new keys cut and because my work keys were also on the chain work had to have some new locks installed, and the keys cut for those locks for other members of staff. I can tell you I wasnt their favourite person for a time.
I now have two seperate bunches of keys, work and home and only have the important keys on both. They weigh a lot lighter in my handbag too!

I only have one ring and one fob, but I have about 15 keys on there, and ironically none of them are keys to a vehicle. LOL I have keys to a number of different homes (yes, the owners all gave me the keys LOL) and my safe deposit box here at home, and one for my filing cabinet, apartment mailbox, building's main door, and a few other things I can't remember right now. LOL
