Would you prefer to be a stay-at-home parent or work outside the home?

For some, being a stay-at-home parent is not their 'cup of tea' and some couldn't imagine working and leaving their kids in the care of others. Where do you stand?

I was stay at home mom for my daughter when I had her. I wanted to be stay at home and my daughter had to be under 24 hours and 7 days care. I always wanted to stay home so it worked out great for me. Im going to be stay at home mom again when I have future children.

Thank you for your response! I am so glad you were able to stay home with her. Being a stay at home mom is a very underrated position... but the rewards are well worth it!

Stay at home if you can! Kids need a aprent at home, kids need so much, and they learn so fast - it's better if they learn it from you instead of others. It's a short time well worth the sacrafice and investment because they grow up too fast.

I was a daycare kid to a single mom. I always said that if I could I would do all I could to stay home with my children. Luckily I am blessed to be able to do so.

Stay at home for me, but I guess it would be more like work at home. I stopped working full time when my daughter was born, and started working part time at home around her naps and schedule. I wouldnt go back and change it for the world, although being a mom is tougher than any 9-5 that I have had. Now that she has started Kinder, I still make sure I am there when she gets off. Some like it and some don't. Either way is fine in my opinion as long as the kids feel loved and taken care of.

Thanks for your response! You are right, it is tougher than any regular job! Most of my life and up until I was 8 months pregnant, I worked 60+ hours a week. That was easy compared to now! But I wouldn't trade this for anything!

I am hoping to be a work at home parent. Otherwise, I will probably be a stay at home parent. If I am a stay at home parent, I will probably want to have some form of job a couple of evenings a week, or I will take classes. I can't imagine spending all of my time at home or just doing child-based activities. At the same time, I would be reluctant to leave my child in the care of others.

Thanks for your response! It is tough sometimes, only having a baby to talk to! LOL However, I also have a hard time getting everything I need to get done in the course of day. With working online PT and chores and a very demanding baby...Whew!

I have been both. I used to work but I now stay home. I think I am a better stay at home mom-I haven't missed anything in my little one's life-I missed quite a bit when I worked with my other 2..

Thanks for your response. I am fortunate enough to be able to stay at home with my daughter. It has been tough with only one income, but I couldn't imagine it any other way.
