I would be very straight and honest, so far I can't make a confident pick who is our best president of all time. It seems that each president through the years have this big flaw that you wouldn't really want for your president. SOme would say Marcos, but to massive ill gotten wealth and lack of freedom on his term, it really made him unpopular. Manuel Quezon? I'm not too sure with him too. So who do you think would be on your top list?

MARCOS was no hero BUT, he was intelligent and during his term, the Philippine economy was at its best. Trade and industry was very productive and Philippines became one of those countries who are considered wealthy and famous. I think among the Philippine presidents, it was at his term that our economy cherished. But he lost the people's respect when he greed for power and money and placed the whole country under martial law. It was the biggest mistake he has ever done in his whole term as the President. Should he have not done that, he could be the best president of all time.
Each elected president has his/her own strengths and weaknesses and to note the flaws which are contributed by their subordinates. The saying goes, "In a very white bond paper, a person can really see even the tiniest drop of black ink it has" Nobody is perfect and no one is the best..Well for me, the worst was Joseph Estrada..

yes you're exactly right, marcos almost got it but he blew it on the later years of his career. And Philippines was indeed one of the best. Anyways you think Joseph Estrada was the worse? I thouht so but until gloria took his place and became the worst on my list. She's smart but she is plain evil and it is embarassing that she got the lowest rating of all time even lower satisfaction rate than the ousted president. And Joseph estrada was simply not intelligent at all lol.

yeah GLoria has the lowest survey stats. Maybe if she was not re elected and didn't have a long term, the people will be satisfied with her efforts. I mean, the people got fed up in her "no improvement" ruling for the past years. Same strategy and same mistakes. She is intelligent but she is being easily manipulated by the people around her

marcos was the most brilliant and maybe will be the most intelligent president the philippines had, first term he revolutionized the the gree revolution that made agriculture first priority , he had build infrastructure beyond his time like lrt that until now we are using, most of the buildings were made during his regime yet dont forget that media is controlled during martial law that people were then blinded by the crimes and corruption lurking his administration, but no question to his intelligence. ramos made the philippines a tiger cub economy bringing the end to power failure and making mark internationally in his travel selling the philippine land for new investor but at the end of his term pia amari scandal and expo filipino tarnish his presidency.magsaysay former defence chief put end to the insurgency of hukbalahap, pro filipino had the concept of filipino product first yet his term was abrupt due to an air accident, we dont know how he would perform if he completed his term.the president the philippine never had jovito salonga, ninoy aquino, raul manglapus, fpj, what if juan flavier runs at 2010 the senator with untarnish name in public office and private life?

I was born when President Marcos was the president but later in years I found out that he became very unpopular because he used to extend his term by taking advantage of the situation and lost it to his political opponent by popular uprising. So I grew up practically liking the Aquino Administration, although it was not a perfect government that each of us wanted to be. She exited her administration peacefully and she could have taken advantage of extending her term because of the change in constitution she was given a new term extension but she chose not to out of "delicadeza". She is now suffering cancer and many of her supporters are praying for her recovery. The next president was rather also good since he took advantage of putting our economy better in his term but still he was hounded with many controversies. After these two administration, I think the presidents did not do well since one was ousted by another People Power Revolt which was taken over by a person that also had questionable term right now.

yup! your right I was also born when the time martial-law was declared from Cory Aquino with her kamag-anak incorporated some people said she brought back democracy but people must remember, that she also took our freedom from us, when she replace public official chosen and elected by the people, election is our constitutional right, is that freedom? during her term our economy shrink, is that freedom when our economy is down, peoples stomach is empty theirs no freedom when theirs no food on our table then comes Ramos the expo Pilipino scam master,Erap the the gambling lord but you know what? one thing good for erap is that during his time he give more budget to education if people don't know and make Mindanao as food basket for the Philippine walang rice shortage during his time and Asia suffer economic crises but his economic managers was able to control the economy and we are the first country in Asia to overcome the Asian crises and he show no mercy to MILF,ABBUSAYAF,MNLF and other lawless group in the Philippine thats why peple love in spite of corruption under his governance, then comes Gloria the worst President that the Pilipino ever had the queen of all scandal in our country,Oh! God,....heal our land ,God bless Philippine the pearl of the orient seas.

Marcos is the best! he always wanted to be on top(in school, army, even the bar exam)and i think when he became the president all he wanted is that the country Philippines will be on top. during his time ALL Filipinos has fear [against the law from minor cases(throwing trash everywhere) to major cases]and all is well disciplined. because of that people power revolution now were free from doing anything no more justice more on killing and corruption. LRT MRT heart center lung center he started that and many more.

I would like to know on what basis are we comparing the Presidents? Are we looking at it in particular metrics like GNP, GDP? or social surveys like SWS acceptance? or number of projects? or infrastructure development? or are we looking at vision?
As individuals, I think they have different thrust and different leadership styles. Some were elected and re-elected on a different constitutional ground which gives them different power/authority. Marcos created a regime of dictatorship, so, under that constitutional paradigm, he has done such a good job.
Power emanates from the people. The leaders reflect the general view of the people - regardless of the circumstance.
Good day!

I thin it would be easier if we talk about the technical terms. In terms of economic development, science and research breakthroughs, In terms of the crime rates, the infrastructure developments, and public satisfaction. Because so far it is the most evident factors we can view or rather weigh which is the better from the rest

For me,i see corzaon aquino as the best example of a Filipino President. She shows democracy among Filipino people. She gave us Freedom from marcos regime. She is an example of courage.

That is Ferdinand E. Marcos. You can list a million items to contradict my statement, but there no other time that the philippines was on top but when marcos was our president. After him, the philippines went into downward spiral to poverty and corruption.

Well basing from history I guess I could pick a couple of them. That is Magsaysay and Manual L. Quezon. But in fairness to them, In Magsaysay's term he was indeed a popular president because of his being close to the masses. There were almost no major political bickering that was accused at him but since he was not able to finish his term his political career because of a plane crash. Although I heard in his term he was labeled as CIA agent or a pro-American and this was not proven to be true. In Manuel L. Quezon, while he was also being touted to be one of the best but his career was also stop short because of war. The only controversy I know before was he being married to his first cousin and that is all I remember. So the best presidents that we have were not able to finish their respective terms. Those that were able either is targeted to be labeled as bad or inefficient presidents. Can you see the trend in here.

I think all of our presidents claiming that they have done their best for our country.Past presidents have been critize if what they have done for our country,I should say i don't have any choices or rate them negative coz i know that they had make their best that they can do.
