When my mom gets an itchy palm, she scratches it. It is supposed to mean that she is getting money. Oddly enough, when she does this, she usually gets money after a few days... A superstition is basically a belief which usually born of fear and it is contrary to reason. Can you cite some superstitious beliefs that you know? Do you believe in them?

I play baseball and let me tell you, we are the most superstitious people on earth. Every player has rituals or routines. Players might wear things multiple times without washing them or change clothing until they find one that brings them good plays. It really is a belief thing, I know that wearing baseball pants I haven't washed in weeks won't affect what I do in games, it's just all in my head. If baseball players don't do their superstitions in the back of their mind they will be thinking they're at a disadvantage. Superstitions are just self fulfilling prophecies. If some superstition makes you believe something will happen, your mindset will be geared towards it happening, which of course increases the chances of it happening.

I think that superstition is based on belief. - If you believe that it's true, IT IS!
Try it... It works!
