10 Items Or Less.

You are at the grocery store you have a grocery cart full of items and groceries you are the next to be waited on and someone comes up behind you with just one or two items, the cashier has not started checking you out yet. Will you let the person that just come up behind you go ahead of you? I do this often when I see a person with one or two items that is close to me or behind me I ask them if they would like to go ahead of me they politely say thank you. Most of the time they seem to be in a hurry and the 10 item or less line is full.

I sure do. Usually they are holding their items and it is easier for them to go ahead and then I can check out without feeling the pressure to finish quickly for them. I usually have a child in tow which can always cause the unexpected to happen. I have even had my stuff on the conveyor belt and still let them go ahead. It truly only take a few moments to be nice to another.

Yes, I would always let a person with less items than me go before and I am always grateful when somebody does the same for me. Also, if I see a lady with a very young baby coming up behind me, I will ask if she would like to go before me, as she might want to get home to feed the baby. I will also let elderly people go in front of me. It makes my day when I can do a small thing to help somebody else.

Well, even though none of you have let me go in front of you at the grocery store - I just wnat to say "thank you" in behalf of all of us out here, that have had that kindness extended to them. I've been a cashier and have worked in the self check out area, to assist those who need help - - so sometimes when I'm enroute to the self check out area, and I see a little old lady waiting in line, I have offered to take her with me to self check out, and help her as well. So thanks to all of you for your kindness shown to folks such as myself, and have a great week this next week. Classy Cat

Hi chevee I often do that if someone has just a couple of things, and I have a ton. they are always very appreciative and I think its just good to do as you know you will be there awhile with all the stuff that you bought. I know when someone' does this to me, I am always very appreciative of their kindness and thank them quickly. it means getting home more quickly.

I've done that before, I don't think it is a big deal in doing so. The reversal happened to me a few weeks ago. My daughters and I were behind this lady, she prompted me to get in front of her, plus she said she was waiting for her sister who had forgetten something. She was a very sweet lady.

I always allow someone to go ahead of me if they have on or two items. The only reason I would not is if I was rushed myself to give my child with a fever some medicine.. Other than that I think it is the best thing to do that is if you have any kindness in your heart.

Yea, that's the only reason I wouldn't let them, if I was in a rush myself. Other than that I would let them through.

I always let people with a couple of things go before me if I have a lot. The other week though I did not have a choice as a man came up behind me, pushed past me and told me he just had to go first as he had to get to work and that I did not mind did I? I told him that actually I did mind because he was not asking he was telling me and that he was being a bit rude! He went through anyway with his bunch of bananas!

If I have a cart full of items and see someone with just one or two I will let them go in front of me. I know that it will take me a lot longer than them. People are usually very thankful and appreciative. At the same time, I have had people do the same thing for me at the store. If I am there with just a few items, lots of people have let me go in front of them.

I would let them pass me because it won't take that long for that person to pay and leave. I think I would let them because I know how to feels to be standing in line behind someone that has a billion things in their cart and you have to wait just for a couple or things. It's happened to me and no one ever asked me if I would like to go first :(

well frankly speaking i dont really like doing that. But most of the time i have to be in the place of those kind of people who are talking about. So thinking of my own situation I usually tell people with less item to go first. I think it really makes them and as well as you happy. He will remember you with a positive image in some part of his mind.

I usually let people go ahead of me in line if they only have a few items. Fortunately, our WalMart has several self checkout lines that are great if you only have a few things to pay for.

HI Chevee, That happen to us yesterday and same thing as what you did, I allow the person to go ahead, it's not a big deal waiting for him since he has only one item and when he was in front of us, the people ahead of him also told him to go ahead and insert since they have also a cart full of items!

that's so kind of you to give the favor. well, i admit that i never do that. it's not because don't want to do that. i just never shop in the grocery store till my card full of items and groceries. instead, i am the one-or-two-items person. i wonder if behind you await 10 people with one or two items, will you also let them go ahead? sorry for the question, i am just curious. that is a very good thing to do, though. take care....

If I have one or two items and the person behind me have one or two items I will go myself unless the person politely ask me if they can go first.

Hi Chevee, Yes I do quite often, it only good manners and maybe when I have a few items I would like some to do that form too. Tamara

If that person was really behind me all that time, then I would probably let him/her go first. But if that person was 3 individuals behind me and asked me if it's okay, then I just might say no because I feel that it's not only up to me to let that person go first. I've had people let me go first even if I haven't asked so I try to do the same once in a while.

Yes, I do that sometimes. I usually use the self checkout that our store has, but I have done that before when someone only had a couple of things. I think that is the polite thing to do. If I was in their shoes, I would want someone to do that for me.
