I write with a biro or ball pen. It is usually black but it can be blue and sometimes it is green. When I was a child at school I wrote in lead pencil and when I was ten was expected to write with a fountain pen. I used to get loads of ink all over me.
Which instrument do you write with now?
What did you write with in the past?
Do you do more hand writing or word processing?

BIC pen now, have used Parker's refill pens. Used graphite pens in school from the Ticongeroga pencil company, most likely, and I don't think I've written much with fountain pens if ever. I do more word processing than writing at this point in time.

I prefer a fountain pen because of the smoothness of the writing and its easiness on the hands. I used to write with ballpoint pen or pencil, but I have since switched to a fountain pen because the others gave me hand cramps. Being a teenager, I never grew up with fountain pens in school, so I kind of had to reteach myself how to hold the pen, but it was totally worth it.

As a child i used to write with a pencil and then came an ink pen. Nowadays i am mainly using a gel pen to write dowm my dairy. Most of the work i do is done on the computer itself, however there still are points which i need to jot down when i am on the go.

I do most of my writing in ballpoint pens and sometimes pencils. I have tons of notebook around my house that I write in. I know some writers that do everything on the computer, but that doesn't give the same thrill to me as putting pen to paper. In school I used lead pencils more, but I still used pens for notes and certain assignments.

I used red ink since my work involves that I am mark students scripts. I don't know why but teachers always use red ink (at least in my country). When I am not marking students scripts I always use a word processor.I find it easier to correct mistakes and I type faster than writing manually.

I use a pen. Usually it's black for legal purposes and for documentation. It's difficult to use colors other than black because of work. Similarly, I also passed through the phase you had when you used to write with lead pencil and was required to use ink.
I have no problems on writing, but since I'm a lefty, I found that using gel inks work better than ball point pens for me.
Just a comment though, I have been reading a lot of the comments here and found out that people tend to use the computer for writing than using their hands. It's quite sad because sooner or later a person really does lose his/her strength in writing. A funny thought actually occurred to me just a while ago. What would ever happen if everyone is forced to use pen and paper? or what would happen if suddenly all the computers in the world would just go nuts? hehe.. It's just funny. Anyhow, that's another topic.
I like typing though. But writing is similarly important in my life. I intend to write using my hands more than I type.
Practice indeed makes perfect.

hi
nowadays its more of typing on PC or laptop than using any pen.but during my college days i used to write with ball pens, mostly blue, black some times but have never used green or red.just like u in my early school days we used lead pencil.from pencils there was a transition to pens-fountain pen, what we call ink pen here.but writing with fountain pen was the toughest thing,so it was such a relief when ball pens were finally allowed during my college days.

I tend to have lots of different pens in my desk tidy as I go through so many with work but, in school years back I too had to learn with a fountain pen which I hated. Now I just tend to use black or blue biro types. I also use word more often if working from my own pc rather than writing it all out.

Hi Maximax, the instrument for writing depends on the time and situation I am writing. When stuck up with some work and I need to write something in between, then I usually take notes on my laptop itself. Also, for my reminders I like to track them on my whiteboard. However, for formal writing I use a ball-point pen. I dont like to write with the gel pens at all. Happy writing and enjoy mylotting....

I tend to use whatever is available. Sometimes it's a black ball-point pen and sometimes it's a quick notepad text file that I crank out just to keep an idea from forgetting. I started writing on the computer however, but I now also write on paper and such. I try to avoid pencil, though.

Computer all the way. My hands start to hurt when I use pencils, I guess I hold them too tightly :)

Although it's very rare now but I love using a fountain pen to write with, I used to write all my journals with a fountain pen, always blue it looked so neat, I have very neat handwriting, and I love the feel of a fountain pen too, even when you had to replace the little ink cartridges inside. I remember at school we were writing in pencil and once our handwriting became neat we were then able to use a fountain pen, and I was one of the first chosen! I don't write journals any more because sadly they fell into the wrong hands and I just use an ordinary bic pen now.

I still use a ball point pen when I do crossword puzzles but I do write using a word processor or some online facility.

I use ballpoints most of the time but I really prefer writing using a mechanical pencil. Because with it I could easily erase unnecessary stuff therefore saving paper as well. Right now I use more word processing because of my work but I still prefer writing because it has a more personal touch in my opinion.

I love writing manually with pen and paper or a pencil and paper. My creativity just seems to come out more when I write with pen and paper. I type a lot, too, but when I get blocked I find that if I start writing manually I can get past the block and finish what I need to finish. I am a pen, pencil and stationary freak! LOL. I have so many pens and pencils and all kinds of tablets and notebooks that I could probably start my own store! Look out Staples.
