I prefer pasta, simply because it provides me with some variety - there are more types of pasta to choose from, and more ways that you can actually use it. For instance, you can choose from a plethora of shapes, sizes, thicknesses and grains, not to mention fillings. Pasta can be fried into chips or crunchy strips, used as sheets or rolls, baked, or simply eaten as is with sauces. I do love rice too, but pasta has a lower GI rating and greater flexibility.

Most of those choices you wrote down can be had with rice, although the difference is not so great. For instance, there is the long grain american rice which is far different from the short grain japanese rice. Japanese rice is far more absorbant than American rice and also more sticky.

Filipinos loves to eat rice but in my side i prefer to pasta.. Rice is heavy compare to pasta right? Rice is okay but eating too much to eat can make you fat because its carbohydrates. I have this that if i will eat meat it will go together with vegetables and if i will eat vegetables thats the time i will have it with rice.
