somone else who needs a helping hand and pay them the same
amount of money.perhaps its called payforward, I just cannot remember the name. can anyone tell me what it is please?

I really didn't realize that there was such an organization until I started hunting around...LOL... I've heard the term "Pay It Forward"--the concept being that if someone does you a great favor..give you money, give you something for free, it's without any strings attached save for the idea that instead of paying the money or giving something back to the person who did you the favor, you pass it on down to someone else who might need the money or item.
For instance in my case. When the worldwide webcast event came on the Oprah.com website discussing Eckhart Tolle'd book A New Earth was to be aired, I was all fired up about it and signed up for the webcast..problem...I didn't have the book and just didn't have the funds for it, nor was I able to get it out of the library as the waiting list was too darn long. I posted my "dilemma" on the Oprah.com discussion forum...within minutes a person responded....this was a person I never, ever met, and she was willing to send me a copy of the book, entirely free, no strings attached--she asked me to privately email her so she could get my address...she did indeed send it to me Priority Mail no less.
So, just recently I had the opportunity to do the same...I had two copies of one book, The Sedona Method...one I had bought, one was given to me...I didn't know I was to get the free copy and wound up getting both books at the same time practically...That's when I did my offer here at MyLot..that anyone who might be interested in the book I would send it to them, free of any charges...So a fellow MyLotter now has the book.
Their actually is a website called Pay It Forward Foundation..here
http://www.payitforwardfoundation.org/get_involved.html
The concept was started in a book written by Catherine Ryan Hyde, and was originally geared for young students...but now the concept is worldwide and for any age.
{Warning: This link I provide is NOT a referral link but a link to the Pay It Forward Foundation to enhance this response}

hi pyewacket I thought there was. i had seen itonce thenforgot
the name in a senior moment. I remember now that I had read
the book by Catherine Hyde and realized that though it was
slanted for young students any age could use the same premise.
Once when my husband and I with our little girl were stranded
on the freeeway due to an overturned kegof nails that flattned
all four tires on our pickup,a man in a limo with driver helped us byusing his AAA card, then followed us into his own garage and repair place and paid for all four tires, then he showed us to a really nice restaurant which he incidentally owned and paid for our dinners.wetried to pay him back but he refused, saying just payitforward, I belong to the foundation, help the next person just as I helped you. I dont remember his name now but he was here in the states from Greece and owned a chain of garages and restaurants. very good looking oldeer man. So my husband did
endeavor to do just that and he did help a number of people and we were not weathy either.

he was like an angel and he refused any kind of recompense, shrugging and saying I have plenty ofmoney
and you needed help, and i am only glad I was there.'
so we did try to help others with the same premise, 'do
not repay us just do some good for someone else.

checapricorn hi nope it is more like if you happen to have car trouble and someone helps you, and you out of gratitude offer them some money, they refuse and tell you pay it forward, then they explain to do a good deed for the next person you meet and ask them to keep paying it forward.

I found this on the internet, but am not sure it is what you are looking for.. I think this one is where you loan the money to others..
http://www.1955design.com/2007/09/06/pay-it-forward/
Kiva is an organization that administers loans to enterprising people worldwide who cannot get loans through normal banking channels. Most of these people live in third world or undeveloped countries where they struggle to be successful and to provide for their families.
Hope it helps..

hi donna lawson no not quite this is more like for example
you have car trouble and someone helps you out, then you offer'
them some money which they refuse, they tell you pay it foreward,
and explain you do a kind deed for someone else, and tell them to keep the kind deeds going as they meet someone who mayneed help.

That premise was made famous by the movie "Pay it forward". Somebody does something good for you and you pay it forward by doing something good for somebody else. I don't think there is really an organization just for that though. However the boy scouts and girl scouts believe in doing at least one good deed each day. I guess in a way it's sort of a paying it forward kind of thing.

HI Hatley, It's called paying it forward! There was a movie
made about it. It was a very sad movie with Kevin Spacey and
Helen Hunt. It's when you do something for someone and then
they do something for someone else. It's exactly as you
described. Instead of paying them back you find someone
else that needs help and help them instead. It's really
a very interesting concept. That way lots of people who
need help get help!

yes I think its so interesting and people really are astounded
if you help in some way,and they offer you money that we will
not take it,we tell them to pay it forward, just help the
next person you meet who needs help. keep it going

this is the first time that i heard about this organisation and i don't think i had ever known it before... i watched the movie before "Pay it Forward"... the project come from a boy who propose a project to pass the kindness that we had received to another people and so on as the way of rewarding the person whom we received the kindness from... i think it is really sweet... and if we can really implement this concept, this world will definitely be a better place to live in... let me know if there is such an organisation exist please... take care and have a nice day...

Hatley, I have never heard of payitforward being used with money, but I am sure it has been in some case. Payitforward is mainly used to do good deeds for others. Like if you walk by a meter and it is about to run out put a quarter in, and when that person comes out and sees that you have put money in their meter, then they should do a kindness for another person. That is the only way I have heard of it used. Blessings Marilyn

olivebranch if I said money I made an error as these are just good deeds where you get helped, and if you want to repay they tell you to payit forward just go a good deed for the nextperson you meet who needs help and te ll them to payit forward by
doing a good deed for someone else who needs help, thus it keeps on going.

hi kolleenwilson there is so I have been told an organization named after the movie and the idea is not to pay anyone for helping you but to simply do good to the next person and ask them to do good to someone thus to keep paying forward.

Hi Hatley - I think Pyewacket got to it first, but here's what I found.
Pay It Forward Foundation
The Pay It Forward Foundation was developed by Catherine Ryan Hyde to bring the message from her novel to classrooms across the country.
http://www.payitforwardfoundation.org/
Sounds good, but could also be problematic if someone decides to take advantage of them.

hi moondrop yes that is what i have foundout,it is called
pay it forward, and its a lovely idea that seems to throw
people for a loop. you simply do a good deed for someone and if they want to pay you say no just help the next person you meet
who needs help pay it forward, let them also help the nextperson they see who needs help.
