I'm not sure what went wrong. But I know what you are talking about.
I know this one girl, she has totally let herself go. No makeup or nothing, and gained weight. What does she think got her man?

This must be an extreme, isolated case. For most people that I know, to not brush your teeth is just crazy. If you are only brushing your teeth because you are single is absolutely ridiculous!
Most times, I think most times people are so hung up into getting married that they don't take the time to get to know people. Obviously if you only see a person on a date, they make look their best but what about other times. If a person is capable of not keeping up their hygiene then I am sure there were some signs prior to marriage.
Maybe when the real person showed up, they ignored the signs!

I have heard stories like this but I was hoping they are far and few in between. I think if there is such an extreme change in a person there is a problem. They either do not care for the person they are with or they have issues with thier own self worth.
I have been married for over twenty years and I would not say that I have let my self go. However, my health is gotten bad over the years so my body has changed. I am about thirty pounds heavier but my husband doesn't care he loves me at what ever size I am. I do dye my hair because I have had grey hair since I was born and I hate it. This is not for my husband but for my self immage. My husband doesn't judge my looks nor my behavior. It makes a big difference when you have a spouse that builds you up no matter what and never tears you down.
I am sure that my husband has put on a little weight but he still looks good to me. We talk all the time to make sure that we are on the same page. This keeps fights down and self esteam high for both of us. We make sure that we give my daughter a good reference point when she decides to get married. She will be able to look back and see how we treated each other and she will expect the same treatment from her spouse.
