I am interested to know how many here are/were young mothers.
Or what are your views on young teens having babies.

I got pregnant right out of highschool with my first. Had her when I was 19. I worked until my job sent me home. 2 months after I had her I went to college part time, while my boyfriend work. my daughter is 4 and I know have another daughter who is 7 weeks. They have the same father and we are still together.

i was a teen mum with my 1st child and me and his dad are still together 5 nearly 6 years on with another son and another baby now on the way.
I coped very well as a teen mother and even worked 42 hours a week to earn an extra income.
But i wasnt and still am not a single mother so i have always had full support from my partner who is my childrens dad.
i think teen mums so long as they are interested in being a mother rather than going out with mates etc can be just as good as any mother who is not a teen.

I really admire you for doing everything you could for your family and I am so happy that you had so much support. Unfortunately, we now see teens actively trying to get pregnant as it seems to be the 'cool' thing to do, like the baby is an accessory! This makes me sad and you have to wonder what kind of life these babies will have, being brought up by mere children.

I had my first child when I was 18 years old. I knew that when I had my child, I had to be the grown-up and that is what I did. I see too many girls having children for their parents to raise, and I don't just mean young moms.

While 18 is young, it seems now that the acceptable age has lowered hugely! we now have girls as young as 13 actively getting pregnant and I agree with you, how many of these children do end up in their grandparents care! And you are right, its not just teen parents handing responsibility over to their parents, we see alot of irresponsible older women who are unable to take care of their children and leave them with relatives. It frightens me how many children we have in care in this day and age.
These poor children go through hell.
