While there are many ways to successfully lose weight, most people regain it over time. Ongoing research is now giving us insights into how to keep the weight off. The National Weight Control Registry makes these suggestions: Keep eating fewer calories. Eat a healthy breakfast. Exercise regularly. More than 90 percent of people who've kept the weight off use physical activity as part of their weight-control program. Weigh yourself daily. If your weight begins to creep up, make a plan to get back on track. Beware the fast food. If you do eat fast food, eat it less than once a week. Do not eat out more than three times a week, at any type of restaurant. Don't be a couch potato. Successful weight losers watch less than ten hours of TV per week — much less than average. Try to exercise instead of eating while you watch. Be consistent. Those who "go off their diet" on weekends, vacations, or holidays have a harder time keeping the weight off. My question is have you ever done any of this tips? Was it successful?

I've been regularly trying to trim of the fats and I've used some of this tips and they do work. Just to share here's some of the advices my nutrionist gave me so I could further lose weight but not limit myself to some food. Calories are a must for those of who us are trying to trim down. We have to have the right number of calories for our intake. We can't eat less calories or our body will starve and we can't eat too much calories or our weight creeps again. It helps to read the calories on the boxes. Eat small portions 4-5 times daily. Breakfast is the MOST IMPORTANT meal of the day. Eat every 2-3 hrs. So it makes you full allowing you to eat less. Plus exercise is really important that works together with your eating habits to allow you to lose weight effectively.

In a med school, almost all the girls gain weight though we are supposed to know the reasonable diet. We have few time to do exercises. After each examination, u will find some exhausted girls eating snacks in tears. Thus we have had so many comfortable food irregualarly since we are under so much pressure. People don't realize that they have to do something until they become fatter and fatter. Me, on the other hand, I eat more, lose more weight. Unfortunately, it is bad to my health too. Lots of people do something they know is wrong on purpose. It is time to use a hammer hitting on us. Our habits mess up our diet. No one here has ever done any of the tips so far as I know. We are being unreasonable!

I need to work on the whole "weekend" thing (not that it is a surprise). The more time I spend with my boyfriend, the more junk I eat and we usually spend the most time together on weekends. I try to do all of those tips, but I'm still trying to lose weight, not maintain it. I also don't weigh myself every day (I've actually heard that that is a bad idea) and I eat out ALL the time, I just try to be sure that it is Subway or something that has a low amount of calories that I can easily look up online to keep track of how many calories I consume every day.

The problem I have is that I need to be on the computer to make money. Obviously being on the computer is a sedentary activity. I am on it most of the day and evening. I do take some small exercise breaks in the summer I swim and now that fall is coming I will be taking more walks but sitting down all day is an issue for me.

Hi MsEdge, I don't own a set of scales at all in the home, It tend to use how well my clothes fit as an indication whether I am losing or gaining (or maybe I have shrunk them in the wash LOL) but I lost a lot of weight years ago and managed to keep of by maintaing the weght loss for the same amount of time as it took me to lose it so my body would be adjusted and comfortable with my new weight. The only real way to lose weight is Less Calories = Less weight but exercis is great to. I swim three times a week and walk rather than take the car, TV whats that, I do watch on a Sunday and usually on a Tuesday but very rarely have time too so agree with that one. Breakfats is a very important meal as you are less likely to snack mid morning on junk food if you have had a good breakfast. Being hapy also keeps the weight off too. I also drink green tea a lot. Huggles. Ellie :D
