I had enough funds in my paypal account for the domain that I'm supposed to purchase but when I tried using my paypal to pya, it does not allow me to because it says I will have to add my credit/debit card. Why does it still asks for ior it when I have enough deposits in my paypal account? It's like , the end goal , is just that I'd be able to add my credit card???!!! In this particular instance, WHY? I don't understand the logic, Can anyone explain to me please, as I'm new to paypal and online buying. Thanks for all your help.

Humm, im not an elder in paypal but i think you dont have to add a credit card to pay, because i dont use my credit card in paypal i just use the cerdit i have in.
Just log-in the page, follow the guide and theres mite be a link to paypal auto-payout, there you have to login in your account and accept the payment.
Have fun!

In order to make your PayPal account trustworthy you need to verify your PayPal account simply by adding a Credit/Debit Card, as may be allowed for your country. With unverified PayPal account, the scope for your online trading will be limited.
However, for booking domain you can use http://www.dynadot.com. So far as I know, they accept payments from unverified PayPal account.

I think it's paypal's way of ensuring the security of the system. Like if they find out you're a fraud they can always track you down. Doing business online is very risky after all, and big companies need to protect themselves from fraud. So anyway, if you don't have a credit card or debit card, try using your parents' first. If that doesn't work then I suggest getting one ASAP. There are many good credit card deals anyway nowadays you might even get yourself a free phone.

Maybe you have exceeded already the allowed amount of purchase for the month that's why it tells you to add your credit card. Try contacting paypal to get a better view on this.

actually putting a c/c acct is an option. you don't have to add. the most important thing is a bank acct. Paypal prefers you to add a bank account because if you ever use paypal as payment in EBAY or other sites that uses paypal, according to PAYPAL's privacy policies, they will not disclose any information about the bank account. Other than it is being paid through paypal account.
Please review paypal's payment options policy. Thank you.

Ok I ran into this as well and found out the reason was becasue I had Canadian funds and was paying for something in the States and even though I had the amount it wanted me to pay in the funds that were listed for what I was buying . Not sure if this is the reason for you but this was the case for me . I did have to add my credit card to pay for the item as I had won an aucion in ebay and did not want the person to think I was bidding and not able to pay . Hope this helps

well, i am not sure about that. what i notice before is that you have two option to make a payment: trough your credit/debit card added in paypal or using your balance in your paypal account. i am always offered the two option when i make a payment.
well, i think they ask just to add your credit card is just for verification purpose. after your account get verified, you can use either fund in your balance or using your credit card. what i know before is that your eligibility on making a transaction will be limited if you haven't got our account verified. moreover, some merchants require only verified buyers which can use paypal to make a payment upon buying their products.

You're absolutely right sutan and verification purposes, I can understand if the balance is less than what you're purchasing but if your paypal balance is sufficient, I see the verification purpose as just an attempt to extract my personal data . Thanks for your vital input. Cheers.

I think it is to cover costs just in case the amount goes over the balance in your account, I know to use your paypal you have to have a bank account or CC to use your account to purchase things. This is with many sites like paypal. Personally it doesnt always help. I used my paypal card, my bank had to be changed because my checkbook got stolen and now I am $100 negative in my paypal... they will let you pay it back with another account, but I think this is why they do that.

true enough paypal will limit your transaction if you have not verified either a credit card or bank card.
Rest assured your details will be safe, paypal is a proven online banking site.
Too bad paypal does not support malaysian bank cards, because of that, i had to verify a credit card

i am not sure... this actually happened to me yesterday as well. i had more than enough in my paypal account but i had to put a credit card # in. i thought it was just for backup purposes, but that doesn't make sense since they know there is enough in your acct to cover it. i don't know... maybe someone can tell us both? :)

Adding your Credit/Debit card makes u a verified user. It ensures the Seller that you have sources to fund ur paypal a/c and so they surely will be paid even if you don't have enough deposit in ur a/c. Some won't accept out payment unless thay make it sure that u r a verified user. That's y they are asking to add a credt/debit card even if u have enough deposit in ur Paypal a/c.
Me too have come across such scenarios.

I have a PayPal account. I really do not know why you were required to add your credit card. My suggestion to you, is to contact them, about this. There is usually a "contact us" area on the webpage. you should see their e-mail address &/or telephone number. Try again.

I think your paypal account is not yet verified. That is probably the reason why you have to enter your credit card details for verification purposes. Once you submit your credit card details, paypal will charge your credit card $1.85 just to check if the credit card does exist and if it really belongs to you. You don't have to worry since paypal will return the amount and place it on you paypal account. If you can go online with your credit card account, the charges can be seen in three days the most, along with the paypal code which you can then input to your paypal for verification. If you can't go online with your credit card, then you will have to wait until your credit card bills appear and get the code from there. Another option would be is to call your credit card hotline number and ask the customer service the details of the charges done by paypal. Best to you!
