How about going back to some of the things our ancestors would have had to do. They didn't have all the dating opportunities we have today, and actually, I think what they did is more romantic. Check into courtship ideas online and find out what kinds of things are there, also. Try a picnic with homemade goodies. Even a picnic on the living room floor by candlelight.

Another idea...try a make it yourself pizza night where you set out the toppings and each of you makes your own individual pizzas, then enjoy them over table games and a rented video.

maybe you could do a group date thing and stay in and play games like uno or taboo, thats always fun and sometimes lets you know about a bit more about the person. staying in is also a good alternative, nothing wrong with dinner and a movie. i know i personally loooove to go to museums and look around and pretend i know what im talking about. i like it a lot when theres music in the park on sundays as part of our music under the stars series especially in summer. the dollar movies are good if you wanna go out but not spend a ton. it really does depend on the kinds of things you like.

If you live near a college, there are tons of cheap performances. Maybe you could take a dance lesson- very sexy- in my opinion or attend a poetry reading or political event, if you agree politically.

Well if you are active, try exercising together or go swimming or something. Everyone watches movies! Some theatres are cheaper than others. It depends on if you like dates out in the open or more private really. if you are into music you could take your date to a Jazz Bar or Open Mic nite at a coffee shop. Try taking him or her someplace you already go to and enjoy! Do something you know that YOU will enjoy because it lets your date know a little more about you.

I guess that would depend on what type of thing you consider a 'date', and whether it is with someone new, or a husband/long term partner. Walk in the park, feeding the ducks, etc. Flea market Home & Garden Show Auction Antique stores Book store where you can grab a cup of specialty coffee or tea and enjoy a book or magazine Zoo or pet store, if you like animals Bike riding, roller blading, roller skating Open houses (most are on Sun from 1-3)

Miniature golf, the zoo (yes adults can still enjoy the zoo), a picnic... or bringing a picnic lunch to any sort of outing to save on buying food. Some movie theaters have showings of movies that have just come out of the theaters, and show them for like $1 or $2 per person. Go for a walk, stop at a coffee house and have a cup of coffee or ice cream and just chat. Or stay in. Cook dinner or order take out and rent some movies. This is how my husband and I "date". We have a membership to Blockbuster online and get movies and after the kids are in bed we watch movies a couple nights a week. It's the most affordable form of dating for us, lol.

We used to do that, but the kids have racked up some overdue fees that we can't afford to pay off right now... but we have Blockbuster which only costs us $15 a month, and we can get unlimited movies and even exchange 3 in the store per month instead of waiting for something to be mailed. We try to have 1 movie night per week at least.

Hm, going out for ice cream doesn't cost much. Or, taking coffee or a cold beverage to the water's edge, like a lake or the ocean if you live nearby, and strolling along the water is a fun date. Catching a movie in the afternoon is probably possible with $25.00. Going out for dessert and coffee is a great way to get out and about in the evening and spend some time chatting. Some communities have outdoor music concerts on Friday nights. These are great places to take a picnic dinner and listen to the concert under the stars. Finally, renting a movie and having a popcorn party or pizza party can probably be done under $25.00.

It all depends on what you like to do and what is in your area. Check out your local newspapers or city website for some ideas. Parks for hiking, biking and picnics or if you have a lake or stream nearby you can go to the beach or walk along the river. Depending on where you live - the fall is a great time for hiking. Many cities have discounts on museum admissions or zoo admissions on certain days. Check out a flea market or rummage sale and then stop for ice cream somewhere. If you have farms in your area, check out local farmers markets or apple farms. Alot of farms have fall festivals where you can pick your own apples and then go for a hayride. Go to a movie in the afternoon movies that are discounted. You can see a cheap movie and then stop for a sandwich. Pick up a pizza and go to the park to eat it or if it is at night spread out a blanket on your lawn and eat pizza and gaze at the stars. Find a coffee house or bookstore that has musicians in and sip coffee while you enjoy the music. Go to a local bar for happy hour or find a bar that has football specials in the afternoon. A great way to eat a cheap meal and watch all the football games - cheap as long as you don't drink to much!

When my husband and I were courting we did not have a lot of money so we walked a lot. We met in Dusseldorf, Germany and walked along the banks of the river Rhine which was quite romantic. If we had a bit of money we would go into a little pub that we knew and buy a drink each and sit by the fire in the winter. The pub had a minah bird and it used to say some really funny things. Goodness that brings back memories!!!
