Ninoy Aquino, Do you know him?
Ninoy Aquino is “the greatest president we never had".- Jovito Salonga
Looking back at his life, it is believed that even at a very young age, Ninoy Aquino is believed to be destined to great things. His grandfather was a revolutionary army and his father was imprisoned because he was believed to be collaborating with the red army. He has been a reporter for Manila Bulletin, reporting the Korean War. At a very young age, he became a local politician in his hometown. He was also believed then to be a red sympathizer. He runs for Senate but issues were thrown at him. They say he was under age and accused of being a CIA agent. When he run for the senate he had his campaign slogan centered on the youth. His campaign slogan was YEH, youth, experience, hope. When Marcos declared Martial Law in 1972, he was on of the first political prisoner. During the years he was imprisoned, he was drawn closer to his family, it was his lowest moment in life, but also they call this his purification stage. This is the time where his views were changed.
When he was released and they seek refuge in the US, Ninoy was still involved in Filipino activities against the regime. In on of his speeches he said the famous phrase: Filipino is worth dying for.
Early 1980 Martial Law was lifted. He was convinced to go home to persuade Marcos to have a peaceful election. The two, they believed had a mutual respect for each other, and that Marcos in a way would believe him.
Enrile led the team that would take care of his security when he arrives. The day he arrived, he has been escorted with a lot of military men. The plan was to put Aquino in a safe way out from the plane, but it changed suddenly and they led him to the open stairs. The reporters were blocked on the way and the doors were shut to them. Some minutes later they hear a gunshot, and then Ninoy’s brother came out of the plane. The people actually believed it was Ninoy and they all clapped their hands. Little did they know that the man who they clapped for is lying on the floor, blood dripping from his head.
The witnesses who have testified in the investigations said that it was on of his escorts who shoot him. On the day he was killed, another man was also lying next to him, it was believed first that it was the one who shot him. Later on, as the investigation proceeds, it was proven that it was really one of his escorts that shoot him. Some witness testifies about it and the autopsy report shows the possible location of the shooter.
Until now, the mastermind of the Ninoy Aquino assassination is not yet known. There has been a lot of speculation based on the motive, practical ability and the ability to hide the truth. A lot of fingers would be pointing at Marcos. Then there were also pointing at some. We may never know who really the mastermind is. It was truly a great crime that to us remains unsolved.
25 years later they launched a campaign. The IAMNINOY campaign
They have a creed, that is aim to call the Filipino youth to stand and act on the same way Ninoy had:

I am a hero.
I do what I believe is right.
I do what I believe is good.
I fight for justice.
I fight for freedom.
I am a hero.
In a big way, in a small way.
In my own way.
I am a hero.
I am Ninoy.

Cool promotion dear. I love the idea. I am of the opinion that anything we do for the country, so long as we keep the fire of patriotism alive, does not go waste.
Surely we need heroes; as indeed we need people whose love for the country knows no bounds. What I personally like about Ninoy is that he always put the country first before his own welfare, security and even life. That's quite a sense of altruism to say the very least.
Sometimes remembering Ninoy makes me wonder, can we ever get to have a politician who would put the welfare of this country second to none?
Sometimes remembering Ninoy makes me really sad, for I can never see any politician who would dare put the welfare of this country second to none.

i admire Ninoy for being brave specially in dealing leaders that want to dominate his fellow countrymen. If many people similar to Ninoy's point of view, Philippines will not suffer poverty. our leaders is selfish, self interest is always in their mind. I hope there is another Ninoy that will come out and be aware of any assassination that will happen to him ans he can resist it and won't allow the devil will win.
