The NOTEBOOK is a beautifully woven tale that takes the reader on a man's journey of love. His wife is in a nursing home with Alzheimers disease. Her mind is rapidly slipping away as a result. The man recorded his life with his wife in a notebook of memories. He starts out by talking about how he and his wife met, fell in love and were then separated by her parents who wanted her to marry a man of upperclass instead of a lower middle class. In his notebook, the man talks about how he is reunited with the girl that he ended up getting married to her. In the end his wife no longer recognized him. This book made me cry, in that the writer not only enabled to feel for the man, but the writer enables the reader to live the events through the man who is the main character in the story.

I read it. I also read more than half of Nicholas Spark's works. They're all nice. I like A Walk to Remember the best - not the movie, the book itself. In terms of translation into film, The Notebook was made better. I really like a Walk to Remember, I hope you find time to read it also.

I first got to read this book in our university library years before a movie was made of it. When I saw its film trailer I got excited because I adored the book so much. So I finally got to see the film on dvd this year and although it is expected that a movie couldn't match up to a book's sentiments, well the film was beautifully crafted anyway. Though again, there were parts were it was not stated in the book.. The book would make you cry more. =)
