Well this depends upon that couple only. Well if they want to , they would go together. And whats with the accompaning thing??? There is like nothing that this is the wifes thing or this is the husband thing. You are differentiating between people and their gender. Well i think its nice if the husbands accompanies the wife to the market and all. Well if you didnt know one thing, wifes generally do the cooking and buying stuff mostly becasue the husband is in the office. That is why the wife does it. There is like no compulsion and all with it.So dont want to tell anything also. By the way nice discussion and happy mylotting :)

Buying things is actually the job of a husband, but women usually get bored at home so they just want to go somewhere out. Men actually hate shopping and women love it. Also wifes know what exact grocery they want. In todays world there people look to everyone as their victim of stealing and looking with an evil eye. So husband MUST accompany their wifes so that they feel secure and shop calmly.

I don't know how it is in your country, but here it is not the woman who does the cooking and all. Usually either both people share equal responsibility or whoever likes to cook more does it. Sometimes it is the man, sometimes the woman. They also almost always go shopping together where I am from and share equal responsibility for carrying in the groceries. I do not know if your view is not very enlightened, or if you live in a country where man and woman are still not equal, but that is not the case here.

I guess whatever works for the couple, if he wants to go great and if not and the wife do not mind him not going even better.

Nowadays most of the husband and wife go to market in week days and collect vegetables for a week in this case if both are there then there wont be any arguments in the cooking that what veg to be cooked. Otherwise only wife normally go to market for purchasing. To buy chicken only my husband used to go I never go the shop for chicken I go for fish only. Four months have passed I did not buy chicken as my husband is not with me. Happy posting and have a nice day.

In my family both of my parents are working. My mother also have a 9-6 job as my father does. So there's no such thing like this is wife's job or this is husband's job.. No actually there is a husband's job.. driving..lol my mother just do not want to learn!! My father and mother both do the groceries together on the weekends. Sometimes they send me and my brother to market but mostly it is they who go for groceries.. they also love it. I must say they are about to cross their 40's and are still in love.. They like doing things together. My father even cooks sometimes..

My husband hates to shop, no matter if it is just for himself or to buy food for the family. So I just cannot picture him going by himself to the market to buy everything then carry it all in himself. However, he does go with me to help keep the kids in check while I'm searching for that next bargain and during check out. He will help me carry things in when we get home, so that way the door isn't being opened and closed so much, that way the heating and air conditioning doesn't cause our electric bill to skyrocket.

My husband comes shopping with me if its not my mom who will be going with me. Its more for protection then anything else. We hear about people getting robbed often at walmart and with 2 kids alot of times your distracted so its nice to have another set of eyes. My husband started doing the grocery shopping when I was put on bedrest with my first pregnancy and since he comes with me all the time.

My husband normally waits for me in the car when I go to the wet market. Because it is very crowded and parking spaces are limited. My wet marketing days are done very fast. As I already have my list so I just go straight to the stalls and get the stuff. For grocery shopping done at the hypermarket like TESCO, we will go together as he will help me carry the heavy stuff like a 10kg bag of rice. I like to go grocery shopping with my husband.

We usually do the shopping together, simply because I have back problems and can't often lift the things that I need. But, if I'm not able to go he will go and does a great job shopping.

If the husband will accompany his wife in the market, that would be better. He is just concern. If the wife has a lot of things to buy, the husband's help is really needed. It would not be easy for a wife to carry all the things she bought. Nowadays, it's only rare wherein you can see husband accompanying his wife. Maybe because we are always thinking that it's a wife's responsiblity.

depends on you. it's not a problem now days. every family or couples have their own living style. if the husband like cooking at home, why not? the same with shopping. In China, husband and wife take the equal family responsibility. have a nice day!

sabahking here in the US we women do most of the grocery shopping and drive ourselves and our food home, then cook for the family and do all the other chores. we find a lot of our men are just not to be trusted with helping buy on our lists , they want to add and add until your bill is too big and you have a lot of odd things that nobody will eat. also cooking can and is often done be both husband and wife. lol lol lol

Depends on the hubby, and the arrangement between the couple. My hubby loves to go to the markets, whether morning or hypermarkets; which is good. He will choose the food that he wants to eat, like fish (not my favourite) or the vegetables he want. Moreover, he is good at bargaining at the morning markets, so I will leave that to him.! The only place that he doesn't accompany me to, are the bookstores!

Hi sabahking, Well yes husbands should go with the wife to go shopping so that husband can carry the heavy load and not leave it for the wife and also wife should not do cooking all the time and husbands should help to cook, it should be equalley shared work not just for the wife, wives are not servants, they are not put on earth just to serve men. Myself i prefer to go alone, however when i do, i come home and hubby says..you forgot this or i wanted that, and it is something he never said to me he would like me to pick up. I make out a list and run it by him in case i tend to forget something, yet if i go shopping without him, he nags me about something that wasnt bought. So now i make his behind go with me, plus i like having him with to help carry the bags in..lol. if he stays home, he doesnt bother to come out and help carry in the stuff.

I hope you are NOT saying that a woman who has enough sense to cook you a good meal doesn't have enough sense to be able to choose the meat & vegetables she needs to prepare the meal she is cooking!!! Being one of those females, I am perfectly capable of carrying what I buy. Occasionally I buy something too heavy for me to carry. I just ask an employee of the store to help put it in the car & get help getting it out when I get home. Most of the time I don't need help!!!

We do all the grocery shopping online and he just has to be at the house when it's delivered to help bring it in so he doesn't mind that at all.
