I have volunteered in a soup kitchen before and really enjoyed it. It was a great atmosphere of team work and comradery. The people who ate at the soup kitchen also really appreciated that the service was there for them, especially in the winter when it gets cold. They knew they could come there for a hot meal and to warm up.

Yes, and the creation of that meal is sometimes interesting. I remember having to go into the stock room, check out what was available, and begin to cook for an estimated amount of folks. We always had to have an idea of how to stretch things if the crowd looked larger than expected. Thanks for sharing.
