Staking Out The Neighbors...

This morning I got to thinking about a movie where two police officers move in with a suburban family to stakeout the house next door where a criminal lived. It got me to thinking if I could deal with a situation like that. We live in an apartment so it would definitely be crowded not to mention that we are at the end of a building with no real way of seeing our neighbors so unless they were going to listen through the walls or watch one of the apartments behind ours they wouldn’t use our apartment anyways. I think it would be a little exciting but more inconvenience than anything. If they did stakeout the apartments around here I’d have to say it would probably be for drugs if anything…we have a lot of meth problems in our town.
Would you let the police use your home for a stakeout? Do you think it would be fun and exciting or just a pain in the butt? What do you think they would be staking the neighbors out for?

I would totally let them use my place.
That would be so exciting.
I would have to clean up first.
And, hide the evidence.
But certainly, it would give me
something to talk about on Mylot!

No I wouldn't unless I was forced to. I don't want to be inconvenienced with strangers in my home.

this never happens to me before... but i think it will be very interesting and exciting if it happens... anyway, i don't think i will letthe police use my house for the stakeout as i'm afraid that the peace of my family will be disturbed... i am also concerned with the security of my family... so i prefer not to get involved with things like this... take care and have a nice day...

If it is for a good cause I would let the police in my house. I don't think you have much choice if they come in with an enforcement notice by the court. However I would oblige to help them curb on criminality.

I definetly want to see that movie. It looks very scarey though, and that it could be too close to home. I don't know if I would let the police use my house as a stakeout. It would depend on the circumstances, and far how I was at the end of my rope. I guess if the police were involved, it would be pretty bad. Good question though. Does make you think.

If I was living in the residence I do not think I would allow them to use it. Now if it was an empty property I owned and they wanted to use it. I see no problems with that as long as it could not be trailed back to me. If myself and my family lived there, no deal, too many bad things can go way wrong!

I will not allow anyone or cops to use my house..I will not be able to relax and I know the my husband will not love the idea also!
Anyway, I do know if someone in the neighborhood will allow them but for sure they can find an alternative without causing disturbance to the residence nearby!

Nowadays, if you let the cops stake out your neighbor's house, you'll probably get retaliation and your house destroyed. I'd probably do it but I wouldn't like what might happen afterward.

nope our ap artment is just too little, and with all the
paranoid gated stuff here I doubt if we have any crime
here anyway since its all we tenants can do to get in here and a stranger would have a really hard time getting in.I dont
think it would be much fun nor exciting either as I dont'see any crime here at all.

No I really wouldn't let anyone of a Gov. agency use my house..I've seen and heard too many horror stories of real life people that these things backfired on..so NO to Them..

no, i don't think i would do that because there is just four houses in the cove where i live & i don't believe any of them would be doing something bad enough for the police to have a stakeout on them.i'm sure there are neighborhoods in town that need to be cleaned out & i wish they would.

Hi twoeye68,
I don't think that will ever be possible in our neighbour hood, as its a small comumnity and everybody knows everybody here but if it was in other area where there are lots of crime around, then yes I would let the police use my house for a stake out, I will safer having police in our house.

This is a good one. First of all, I find it hard to believe that this sort of thing goes on in real life because they would have to trust you to keep your mouth shut and not tell a single soul. Not everyone can do that. Secondly, if it does happen in real life, I am not sure you have a choice. I don't think they ask you...I think they tell you. It would be a pain in the butt to me. I like my privacy, and when I want to go out, I am not going to want to leave them in my home alone. You cannot trust police any more than you can a stranger off the streets..just pick up the paper and you will see what is going on in that area. If they were staking out someone in this apt building, I would say it would be a pedophile. We have had some unsavory characters here and if they were arrested for that, I would not be surprised. Good discussion.

As long as they stay out of my way and didn't make more messed than necessary, I wouldn't have a problem..Though if it took too long, as in weeks instead of days, I might get frustrated with my home being taken over..

I don't think I want anyone hanging around my house. They can stake someone out from another house, not mine. Might be fun to watch it from afar, but not here. I like my privacy and nobody hanging around. We live too far from other houses, though, for that to even ever come about around here. It sounds exciting seeing it on television, but I think that it would be more of a hassle in real life.
