Biden says ad mocking McCain is 'terrible'

This is surprising but rather refreshing. One thing that struck me odd about the ad is that it depicts McCain as a computer illiterate yet the democrats also put out another add making a big deal about McCain having invented the Blackberry!!! So how is it possible to be an illiterate and a genius as the same time??? Am I missing something? Barack Obama's running mate says a campaign ad that mocked Republican presidential candidate John McCain as an out-of-touch, out-of-date computer illiterate was "terrible" and would not have been done had he known about it. Obama, McCain's Democratic rival, launched the ad earlier this month, part of an aggressive push to slow McCain's rise in the polls after he chose Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin to be his running mate. It included unflattering footage of Sen. McCain at a hearing in the early '80s, wearing giant glasses and an out-of-style suit, interspersed with shots of a disco ball, a clunky phone, an outdated computer and a Rubik's Cube. "He admits he still doesn't know how to use a computer, can't send an e-mail, still doesn't understand the economy, and favors $200 billion in new tax cuts for corporations, but almost nothing for the middle class," the ad says. Asked about the negative tone of the campaign, and this ad in particular, during an interview broadcast Monday by the "CBS Evening News," Obama's running mate, Sen. Joe Biden, said he disapproved of it. "I thought that was terrible, by the way," Biden said. Asked why it was done, he said: "I didn't know we did it and if I had anything to do with it, we'd have never done it."

That sounds like the same "token" statement made by Obama when "someone" made Bristol Palin's pregnancy an issue. They both let on that they know nothing about these attacks and make comments about how they wouldn't have allowed it had they known about it, etc. etc. etc. I find it interesting that they seem to know so little about what is going on in their campaign!

It was McCain's Campaign that came forward with the pregnancy announcement. And it was Governor Palin who called it an "embarrassment". Keep up on the facts.

Asked why it was done, he said: "I didn't know we did it and if I had anything to do with it, we'd have never done it." That sentence just jumped off the page at me. I honestly cannot believe that the major players are unaware of what is going on!

Pitgull - Immediately after the announcement of Sarah Palin as McCain's VP, people linked to Obama's campaign posted information on the internet not only that her daughter was pregnant, but also fabricated information that Sarah Palin's youngest son was not her child, but rather the illegitimate child of her daughter. That's the facts!

I generally like Joe Biden, and I hope he genuinely means this, but unfortunately it just sounds like more doublespeak from the Obama campaign where they constantly condemn attacks that they themselves supported. Obama defended DailyKOS and attended their convention yet they were the group that spread that garbage about Trig Palin being Bristol Palin's son. They are also the same ones who started the incest rumors that SNL attempted to parody. What I haven't seen is Obama or Biden commenting on the Swift Boat attacks against McCain. They've been quite silent on that issue.

Maybe Biden is looking for a reason to resign his nomination - dissatisfaction with the type of media that Obama is supporting would be a very good reason for him to step back.

Actually, it is kind of refreshing. I think a lot of the time they really don't know what the slick Madison Ave. types they hire are up to but they don't want us to know they don't know. Biden let his gurd down a bit here and that's always refreshing.

Thought you might like to know that there is a front page story in this mornings PHILADELPHIA BULLETIN stating that the Dems are about to dump Biden and one of the reasons cited is this gaff that we both found refreshing. Don't know how if the story is accurate. (One of the sources is Rush Limbaugh.)

Thank you very much for that interesting information. I checked it out and you are correct! I read they are saying he has made quite a few few gaffs. I wonder if he will try and get Hillary? Here is the link to the article you mentioned for anyone else who may want to read it. Again...thanks! http://www.thebulletin.us/site/index.cfm?newsid=20134689&BRD=2737&PAG=461&dept_id=576361&rfi=8

I think that Mcain is going to be a fantastic president. He dosent want to disarm the United States and he served his time in the prison camp and has given so much to congress and the American people. I think it was horrible for OBAMA TO SAY ANYTHING SO DISRESPECTFUL and I am glad that Biden was decent enough to stand up for what is right!Obama is showing his true colors and it looks like there is alot of hate and disrespect in that mans personality!

I have to admit that headline caught my attention. And I have to admit that the concept of fairplay is very refreshing. It also shows you a little preview of how things will be if Obama wins. Biden is going to have a tough time if he chooses to allow his conscience into the election. I am interested now in seeing what line Obama takes with Biden.
