It is a case-to-case basis. It would also depend on the culture and the reason for doing so. In most western countries, children leave home when they are 18 and that is very acceptable. In my country, children aren't at all expected to leave home if they don't want to. It is common for most of families here to live on extended families.
Some leave home at an earlier age like going on an overseas study.
I think before we moved out, it is best to ask ourselves if we are responsible and are wise enough to make good choices in life. Some people just use their new fond independence to do things they want even though it isn't good for their welfare.

i don't think you can put an age on when someone leaves home.it depends on the person themselves and really how mature they are.I have two boys one is 26 and he left home when he was about 20 but my other son who is 20 now i don't think he has any plans on moving-i think i might have this one for a long long time[lol]

Hi meldilla. I think it depends on each individual situation. I am 33 yrs young and I left home at the age of 17. I didn't go far I moved next door to my mother into another apartment. Now, my brother is now 23 and is still at home with our mother. I know someone who is 40 and has decided to live with her mom forever. Her mother is divorced and they get along great. They actually do very well living together. I had to move out early, my mother and I don't get along well if we are in the same house because we are both control freaks and need things our own way!
I think, as long as everyone is happy with the situation, it doesn't matter if kids move early or stay till they are 80! Happy Mylotting!
