I've been away from home country for almost 2 years now! I was in India for a year and now living in Egypt for almost a year. I miss my family so much and so as my home country. I also miss the food back home! Who here are living far away from their home? Thanks for sharing.

Hi Joie! I'm glad to hear that your going to spend time with them this coming All Soul's Day. I hope that you will have a lot of fun and some relaxing time with them. You need to relax friend because you've been sick and so busy at your work. Take care and thanks for the response.

Hi CJay, I've been reading some of the posts here and now I don't feel like I'm alone. I live 7 hours from all my family and friends. My husband got a new job and we thought it would be great, but I so miss my family and especially my 4 year old grandson. I do hope soon we'll move home. I moved from Indianapolis to Memphis and really want to move back. Well take care and happiness to all! Memphis Mimi

I live in my home country....but not my home state.
But this doesn't feel like home. I'm not sure if it's because I've lived in Kuwait most of my life.....but I do feel at home when I go to my hometown (though I've lived there for very few years of my life). I don't know why that is so...maybe because most of my extended family lives there and I'm comfortable moving around without much help.
My parents live in Africa....so it's definitely not my family alone that I miss.
I can relate to how you feel even though I am living in my home country.

Thank you for understanding how I feel. I know and I feel that my home is with my husband, but its just hard not seeing my family for almost two years now. I hope that soon we will find a time to see them. Maybe that is the reason that you don't feel home, because you grew up and spend most of your life in Kuwait or maybe because you miss your home town and you feel much comfortable there! Thank you so much for your response.

It feels sad indeed. MIssing our family, home, food.. However, I have been lucky not t be outside my hometown. My sisters are and then feel terrible low sometimes. Luckily in modern day of connectivity they can always talk with parents but still things arent the same.
Cjay, I am sure you will get to see your people soon and with all that love around you you just cannot be sad, can you?

Hi mimpi, I talk to my family occasionally and I feel good after, yes thanks to the modern connectivity it makes easier to communicate to our love ones. I feel loved all the time and so happy that my husband is always here to cheer me up when I'm missing my family. Thank you so much for your lovely response.

Hi brisk, It is sad to be away from our family and love ones! But as you said sometimes we have no choice but to deal with it. I am lucky that I'm with my husband and whenever I feel sad because I miss my family he cheer me up. I hope that one day you will be able to stay with your family and get a chance to get a job that will pay you a decent salary.

I live in Florida now, but I grew up in a small town in Georgia. I am about 500 miles from home. I miss my family most of all. I miss the rural lifestyle as well. I live in a city now. It has its advantages, but I would much rather live out in the country. Living here is OK, because this is where my wife is from. I would probably move back home if I had the chance, though.

I am away from my home country from last 8 years. I really miss my country and my family. But nothing can be done. I miss the food my mom used to cook. I miss the festivals. I miss my childhood days a lot. But now everything has changed so much in my country. Its hard to find the environment I had during my childhood days. So some times it makes me feel sad too. But change is the necessisty of life. We have to accept it. But whatever be it I love my country and miss it lots.

Hi there, Wow 8 years must have been so difficult for you, and yes nothing can be done, unless we got the chance to visit our home counrty! I agree that if we gone for a long time, they would be a lot of changes and theres nothing we can do but to adapt to it when we get back to our home country. What I miss so much is christmas season in my home country. I look to your profile and you are in Germany! Where is your home country? if you dont mind! Thanks for sharing.

I think only the wearer know where the shoe pinches. Only those away from home/country can realize the comforts of home and value and importance of the home food. I have been for a longer period away from my home town and when I reached back after staying over years I find my self in a different situation and feel comfortable at my own home.
