If a Boxer's owner does his job, a Boxer is great with kids. That means teaching the Boxer early on not to be aggressive AND teaching the kids not to be stupid around the dog. I had Boxers for close to 15 years, and all of mine were extremely good with kids. If a Boxer bites a child, it's the owner's fault, because chances are that it could have been prevented by teaching the dog and the child how to get along.

Completely agree'd. I have a boxer who will be 7 in Aug/09 and 2 kids that are 9 & 10 and he has never even considered biting them to my knowledge. He has been nothing but everyone's best friend. You could give him heck for something and call his name to come over within seconds and he is right there. He never holds a grudge and he is the biggest suck ever. We are breeding him soon and we cant wait to have another boxer puppy!

We have a boxer that is very good with our daughter. W have had him since he was a puppy, so it was easy to train him. The ony downside is that he doe snot know his own strenght and soemtimes hrths her when they are playing....but he is working on it :) They are protective and loving all in one :)

Boxers have a reputation of being excellent with children, of course proper vigilance should be maintained at all times and individual dogs may defy the trend. all the best urban

Generally yes, they are very good with children. Our best friends have a boxer. Beans just loves the little ones. She lets my 4 year old niece climb all over her. When Isabella lays down to take a nap, Beans will lay down beside her and snuggle just as close as she can get to Izzy. If someone comes to close to the baby while she's sleeping, Beans will try to shove them out of the way, even growling. It's like she's protecting her while she's asleep...so cute!

Boxers are known for being one of the best dogs for children. I have 2. They love children. They are so laid back. They let the kids climb on them and lay on them. Most dogs snap at kids for that but boxers just lay there and take it. The only thing I haft to watch is when they are playing they are clumsy and will knock my little one over. They always go back and check her and kiss her and make sure she is ok. They are known for being very protective over there family. They are very affectionate. The most cuddly and loving dogs I have ever seen. They love to be right on top of you when they are setting with you. My dogs always lay there heads on your shoulder and gives hugs. I love my boxers. I have a 3 year old daughter and a 8 year old son. My daughter hangs all over them. she uses them as steps and everything. I have a very high strung son and they never get nervous like my in laws dogs do. #1 dog in my book.

In my opinion, "Yes", they are. My uncle raised Boxers so we always had one or two and they were the best playmates. They were also very protective of us when we were kids. I had a Boxer named Brandee but she passed away in January. She developed a inoperable tumor on her aorta. She was the best, I miss her greatly.

Yes they are. They are fun to be a family pet. They are strong but they are harmless with kids. Boxer dogs are highly energetic dogs. They are playful and loyal. Although Boxers were originally bred as working dogs, they make the perfect family pet. Boxer dogs are different from each other but one trait that all Boxer dogs have in common is their playfulness

My boxer is very good with kids. As with any dog, it is how they are trained and treated. All dogs should be treated with kindness, but they do need to be treated firmly.
