Johnny Depp's representatives confirmed today that the actor has signed on to play Jack Sparrow in a FOURTH Pirates film. This announcement came along with a statement of his involvement in Disney and Time Burtons CGI-ish version of Alice in Wonderland, in which Depp will play the Mad Hatter (perfect choice, I think).
As far as Pirates is concerned, I'm excited, a bit worried, and a bit "pirated out"...but more Jack Sparrow makes me happy any day of the week! Thoughts?

youngsweetheart, did you watch the part after the credits?
And I agree with you that they might be following up with the Fountain of Youth. In a way, I'm glad that they did part 4. Yes, it might not be too good of an idea, but maybe they will pull it off. Sometimes they just surprise us with sequels (once in awhile that is). But is it just me or I didn't get to see much of Jack Sparrow in part 3? *shrugs*
But I do hope that they will come up with something good for the Fountain of Youth all the same. It sounds somewhat intriguing so they need a good storyline to do just that. Or maybe it's just a myth after all and there is no such? Or they could do something totally different.
I'm just wondering who would they bring in in place of Will & Elizabeth. But then maybe it might be a good idea to have Captain Jack go on his own again - like he once was.

Yes, I sat like a good girl through the credits and considered myself well-rewarded!

I love Jack Sparrow but I think I am tired of the movies. The jokes are old and the storyline a bit dull now. I didn't care much for the last movie at all. We thought it was the last movie they were making and drove the hour and a half to get to the movies and spend basically $100 on gas, tickets, and snacks for my family of four. Basically at the end I said if it wasn't the "end" which the ending surely implied there were more, I said we were going to watch it on DVD only. Considering we went to the theater for the first three, I would said I am done. I will see it on DVD but not bother going to the theater for it.

Don't get me wrong- I love Johnny Depp as Jack Sparrow- but Pirates of the Caribbean 4??? My only worry is this: What story line will they use? I mean, they can't possibly do much more with him. I would have figured out that after this last one, that would be the end. With the rate they're going, they'll finally end at POTC 10!

Although I love Pirates of the Caribbean, I wonder how successful and popular the next one will be. However, the movie is popular more for the actors than the storyline but once people watch it, they love it for both reasons. This is why I think it will be successful to some degree. Also, the third movie left us kind of hanging. I will watch it because I want to see if it is good as the first three or if they should have stopped at the third one.
