I heard my colleague saying that Paris is safer than Rome. She could walk near Arc de Triumph with a five year old and feeling safe. She continued saying that she did not feel safe when she travelled to Rome. Rome sees to be invaded by Roma people (gypsies). She held her child’s hand in hand and felt uneasy when the Roma people were near. Is it true that Paris is safer than Rome

I felt quite safe when I was in Rome this year. I live one hour from Philadelphia. They should visit there first, then they would feel safer in Rome!! LOL

Hi ronaldinu,
No that is not true, because whe I was in Paris, they were lots of beggers and non beggars who ask for money and ciggerettes and if you tell them to go away they abuse you, we were warn by the shop keepers to keep your bags tightly round you and even your suitcases, when we sat outside drinking our coffee, we had to sit with ours legs across our suitcases, yes it is very there.

I have been to both and can honestly say that both of them to me felt safe. There are always places in any city where it is not safe to go and maybe she ended up in a bad area when in Rome ans thats why she felt unsafe?
However I think think the Romans are delightful peopel so friendly and so expressive in the way they talk but to some this may come across as a bit agressive as they get so lud and speak mving their hands a lot!! x

I have personally never visited Paris France or Rome Italy because I do not like planes and I refuse to go anywhere I have to fly,I am not sure if one would be safer than the other, because it is getting where the world is not really safe no matter where you go,but I think both are popular cities with friendly and mean people and the movies and television shows always make them look like nice places to visit, and I think it would be cool to visit them both someday, especially Paris since it is a romantic city and I would love to take my fiance there.

I felt safer in Paris than in Rome. I've only been in the more tourist-y sections of each, though. According to one CBS study, Rome is one of the most the most dangerous cities in Rome. I'm not sure how accurate this is, though, since this study has cities like Honolulu and San Francisco as safer than NYC, while another city ranked NYC as the safest metropolitan area in the US.

I have never visited either of those cities yet (it's on my 'to do' list) but I live in north Italy and I can confirm that this is a problem here. It is not confined only to Rome sadly.
I suppose it's another of those problems that comes along with globalization
