There is a great program called Cell Phones for Soldiers. Their goal is to help our soldiers who are serving overseas to call home. http://www.cellphonesforsoldiers.com/
Alot of high schools take old cell phones for donations to convert to funding for the school.
Have a fabulous weekend!!

I usually give my old cellphones to my younger brother and sometimes to some of our relatives. Right now I'm planning to buy a new cellphone, my old cellphone I'm planning to give to my niece..

The rate at which electronics becomes obsolete is just amazing. We usually upgrade our phones every two years. In New Zealand we take the environment very seriously. So no throwing in the rubbish for us.
Sometimes we auction phones off at New Zealand's top auction site http://www.trademe.co.nz This site is like eBay but very Kiwi in character.
We also have periodic e-Collection drives when people drop off their old electronic stuff and they are consolidated for e-Cycling and safe disposal.
Cheers.

You can sell that to a friend or a relative perhaps. Somebody whom you know can handle your old phone with care. If you are emotionally attached with that thing and that you just can't give it up yet, you can buy another simcard perhaps and use it.. ;) Enjoy shopping for your new one pal ;)

This might be only in the US, but when I get a new one, the older one's data can be transferred to it, and the stripped-out phone goes to a police station. They have them refurbished and supply them free to women and children in shelters for the abused.

It really depends. Sometimes I give them to others who dont have one, and sometimes I sell them at yard sales. I have also recycled them. Some companies will actually pay you to recycle your phones with them. I find that interesting. Personally getting money back for an old phone is a lot better than just tossing it out.

My old phones are all lying in a drawer in my dresser. I don't know why I keep them, but I do. I kept the last one in case something happens to my new one, but the others are just there. One of them is even broken and would cost a lot to fix. I should just toss it.

Well i have a younger brother who cant really afford to buy a mobile himself, so I tend to give my old ones to him, and hes very greatful for them!
He happens to have a good one at the moment, so I think that I will just keep the one that I have as a spare one incase anything should go wrong with the one that I am getting.

There is actually a wildlife conservation place here in my state that takes old cell phones. They take those old cell phones, recycle them, and give them to senior citizens to use in case of an emergency. Instead of throwing them away, recycle them!
