Is the internet somehow responsible for reducing our collective intelligent? web giant google, standing in for the internet in general, has been accused of everything from killing critical thinking to ruining modern imaginaiton. an article in a leading America magazine has gone so far as to suggest that the internet is 'flattening' our intelligence by leaving us unable to read offline. so, do these doomsayers have a point? has the so-called information revolution mortally wounded mankind's ability to think critically? React on this.

Well ,internet is just a tool in our life ,like other tools as cars ,etc. What the effect it brings to us lies on how we use it.Just like our car ,if we use it in correct ways ,it will bring us much convenience. However if you drive your car too fast or incorrectly ,it may bring you accidents. When it comes to internet ,if it was used in suitalbe ways,we will find much interests, and we will get much cleverer.Otherwise ,we may become stupid. In conclusion,we should be intelligent first before using internet.

Well, I'm an internet junkie, and I'm also a bibliophile. I devour books. So I really don't think it's making me stupider. Thanks to the internet I learn all kinds of things. Of course some things are more a bit more useless than others. Like the fact that I learned that Cheetos are called Fonzies in German. I'm not sure THAT really made me smarter. lol
But the internet is sort of like a quicker version of an encyclopidia, so if you need to look up anything, it's just quicker and less bulkier. I think it's a gateway of knowledge, and even doing the most mundane things like playing games online can still be a way to learn when there are others on there chatting and exchanging ideas.
I think it's making us smarter not stupider.
Now reality tv on the other hand...but that's a whole other topic. lol
