He's one of the famous names of Hollywood, and lately, grocery stores. I wasn't a major fan of his, but I recognize his talent. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080927/ap_on_en_mo/obit_newman;_ylt=ArnBrsHKG_LR_sziZiHAByas0NUE Who can forget Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid - a classic pairing of him and Redford. What is your favorite Paul Newman film - or do you prefer his foods?

I am very sad to hear he passed away. He was a great family man and actor. Its sad to hear he lost his battle with cancer.

Yes, I read about that. His second marriage to Joanne Woodward lasted over 50 years. That is no small feat in Hollywood! I was very fond of them both because they so obviously loved each other, and they really wanted to leave a better world behind. I have only ever tasted his salad dressing, but I admired how he wanted to make more healthy, more organic kinds of food.

Me too - I was a bit surprised when he started, but as he moved forward - I could see he had both good humor as well as good taste.

I hadn't heard... Thanks for posting. He's one of my favorites and aged gracefully. In the article you cite, it says he is survived by an older brother... Paul was 83, so how old is his brother?!?

Yes, very sad news. I also liked that movie and also Cool Hand Luke. I really did enjoy watching him at race tracks or seeing pictures of him at them. He did love to drive race cars and loved to attend the events.

I only heard of his foods, never as an actor. Might have something to do with the fact that I was born many years after those early movies.

Well, you must look up some of them. Heck, if he hadn't been an actor first, he'd've never gotten to do the food thing.

I've probably got some of them on DVD. We have heaps of older movies that the other half decided to buy one day. Still waiting to watch them.

He got mentioned in an artical about Butch Cassidy today. I started a discussion on that this morning if you'd like to read it. http://science.nasa.gov/headlines/y2008/ 28oct_halloweensky.htm?list27315

I remembered from a few years back that he and my mom were about the same age - mom just turned 82. I can't say I REMEMBERED that, but when I did see his age, I wasn't surprised.

I have been a fan since I was a kid. Quality is a good description of him and his products. I have tried a few of this products and they were just as good as any others. He not only was a very good actor, family man, and philanthropist but an all around good guy. Not many of those left in Hollywood. He was a type of person who enjoyed what he did, acting, racing, etc.

I agree, and while you can be saddened by the loss of a good man, you have to know that he did his best to make a mark in his life.

It is saturday after noon and I had not heard of such a thing. I did watch the news this morning. I am sure he will be missed. Did you know that all the proceeds from his selling Newsown brand goes to charities. What a good guy.

It's very sad indeed, but life is a journey like in the movies somehow it has to come to an end
