everyone is entitled to their own opinion. but you have to be careful at what you are saying. just because you find other religions to be non-sense and idiotic doesnt mean you can say it out loud, sort of in their face. people find their religion as part of who they are, saying something bad about it would mean, saying something bad about themselves and nobody wants to be insulted. how would you feel if someone insulted you?

but i didnt say that those people are idiots who believe in religion,
i used this word against jesus, rama, etc
For example,if someone loves some brand of coffee, and i feel it totally sucks,
dont you think that it is unfair that i cant even give my views in a public forum that this coffee brand sucks???
why to report it as abusive???

You can still disagree with their opinion. but like i said, its a matter of approach and choice of words. You may think that Jesus and other religious leaders is somewhat "not your type" and you think that what they do is just a waste of time, but people believe in them. What do you think is worth your time? who do you worship? do you want others to criticize what you are doing? the same goes with them! :)

these are what i find in the mylot's guidelines :
we are not to Post to “flame” other users! Being mean to others is just not fun. Anything derogatory that is directed at a myLot user is strictly prohibited. Just be nice and have fun!
and mylot's terms :
Prohibited content includes, but is not limited to content that, in the sole discretion of myLot.com: is patently offensive and promotes racism, bigotry, hatred or physical harm of any kind against any group or individual
so, maybe your discussion is considered :
1. flame 'other' users. because the people who are the follower of jesus, mohammad, and other great personalities you say as stupid will definitely get flamed by your statement.
2. in general sense, saying other people or other mylotters as stupid can be considered offensive. so, i think it is considered highly offensive if you say that the great personality whom people respect to and sincerely follow are stupid.
in brief, your post is obviously offensive. just take it and make better topics
good luck!

ramangill maybe you could make an atheist room? or what you would call what you believe? or just an anti-religion or something.. then it would be more safe i would think.. but even when i post in the wiccan area i get jumped by christians wanting to convert me so it probably wouldnt help but at least i think it wouldnt be as against the rules as just religion.. but like you said if its gonna be a problem then we shouldnt have it..

may be you are true,
but i think if we cant even share our views about the things which we feel sucks,,
then there is no point of this room--'religion'
every time i ll say that there is no Hell and Heaven, people will get offended, because they believe in it.
they will report abuse, and the discussion will get deleted.
So where will we non-believers post our views,,isnt it unfair??

Speaking against any religion is offensive to the people who adhere to it. The true believer of any faith will be highly insulted if you call the prophets or teachers of that faith stupid or idiotic. By doing so you are calling those that follow that belief stupid or idiots.
That being said it is possible to state your felling and beliefs in ways that, while they may still be offensive to some, do not violate myLot guidelines. Criticize the religion not the religious. Don't personalize the discussion with attacks on individuals and you should be all right.

i am a christian and i find it very offensive because you are calling my savior an idiot my savior is not an idiot because i know that if he didn't come down to earth as a man and die and rise again for me i would be on way to hell right now and i would not have eternal life in him so you calling my savior an idiot i take huge offense to that and it saddens me that you would take out time to type such garbage don't you have anything else better to do then to diss my god!!!!

Don't be offended by this poor lost soul who is blinded by the world and the god of this world. But love him and pray for him and all the others who are unbelievers and know God loves them and Jesus loves them even if they call him names and revile him. They don't know what they do. Christ gave his life and shed his blood for them too and we need only ask and pray and turn the other cheek and forgive them 70X7 and more. Love them and God will and can and is able to call them as he purposes and wills in his time and way. Christ and God have huge shoulders and can take it and we just need to keep looking to them and loving HIM and praying for our enemies as he told us to do. And loving them too.

I don't know about mylot guidelines but I do think that everyone has the right to believe what they want and deserve to be respected in their beliefs. I am a christian and I would never post something offensive to other people of other religions.

hi raman,
you can voice out anything you want ... but make sure you are a gentleman at it ... do not use harsh and offensive word at all ..
"i dont like rama" is fine enough, why do you need to call him "idiot and such" .
You have all the right to call yourself, your wife, child, brothers and sisters "idiot" but you have no right to call others idiot.
You may even loose your best friend if you called him "Idiot" or stupid
By the way... i should give up religion as my stars are dropping from 10 to 7
cheers

Although there is nothing in the Guidelines about this type of discussion, the Terms and Conditions state: "myLot reserves the right to delete any discussion and adjust earnings for any discussion that in the judgment of myLot or any Member violates this Agreement or which may be offensive, illegal or violate the rights, harm, or threaten the safety of any person. myLot assumes no responsibility for monitoring the myLot services for inappropriate content or conduct."
It's likely that someone reported your discussion as offensive. I don't recall the discussion in detail but, in general it's a good idea to respect others' beliefs and to not phrase discussions in such a way that they might be offensive to other people (as I am sure you were aware this discussion might have been).
It is always a good idea to read thoroughly and understand the Terms of Service as well as FAQs and Guidelines of any site of which you are a member. Most of the rules are quite easy to understand if you remember that many people from many different walks of life and of many different persuasions come here and that, simply because you can hide behind a nickname in your own little corner of the world does not give you the right to be more outspoken and careless of people's sensitivities than you would be if you were to meet them face to face.

I think that with a discussion like this you have two things against you.
#1- Religion is a high emotion topic and as such emotions come into play no matter if you trash someone in particular or if you trash their beliefs. So here you are, basically insulting numerous religious figures (Jesus, Rama, Muhammad, Buddha, etc...) So these people see this as an attack against them thus "Hateful Speech"
#2- Pi$$ing off so many people would tend to get those in the know to do something about it. Maybe this single discussion got so many negatives and complaints that the myLot staff deleted it rather than having to deal with it.
This is the reason that most people bite their tongue so that their discussions do not get deleted. If you would have made your argument rather than simply bash all faiths then maybe it would have not been deleted.
I hope that this has added a little insight to the situation.
Have a great day!!

Geez!
You might not have violated mylot guidelines, but you might had violated humanitarian guidelines, and humans might have reported your discussion. You can talk against to religion or theism or atheism, but you won't lose anything if you chose to show some respect on other's belief.

The difference is one of opinion, and if you want yours respected... well, you know the rest.
The idea that figures such as Jesus are of no help just because they do not exist now is also an opinion. Are there no historical figures that you look up to as inspirations, or who have left lessons worth learning?

I did not feel offended when you said Jesus was an idiot. I never said that. Bad things are done in many people's names. So are good things. The problem is not with the figure, but what people do in their names. Stop the bad, keep the good. Do not throw the baby out with the bathwater.

what have you learnt from jesus???
well in my that discussion i said that these religous figures might be gud in their times.
but now there are lot of bad things which are going in their names,
like you felt offneded when i said jesus was an idiot.
but why you feel offended,,
is this what jesus taught???that kill whoever calls me as an idiot.
no ,i dont think so.
In my eyes jesus was a true picture of love, but when i see people understanding wrong lessons from them and fighting killing others,i feel it would be better to get rid of these figures, before they hurt our society more,
thanks.

I do not think that speaking against a religion violates the guidelines but if someone found it offensive and reported your discussion as abusive then they may well have deleted it.
I have had trouble since I posted a discussion there about monogamy. I did not report anyone but some of the posts have been deleted even though the discussion is still there. Also my star has dropped so I think someone must be marking me negative but I did not report anyone and I have never use any rating but positive.
The trouble with the religious section is that there are a lot of people there who take offense very easily and if they do not like your post they can get nasty. It is a pity as they would be better off opening up their minds a bit. If they did the world would be a better place.

I think you have fair, rational, logical responses Sharra. Try not to even bother looking at the stars. They go against everything we are taught and teach our children and that is to not judge each other by our looks.
They will neg. you if they disagree with them. You might as well get used to it and please don't let it discourage you.

Thank you for the support. I have always bee a rational, logical thinker but I wish I was more intuitive and spontaneous. lol. We often wish to be what we are not. I will stay in mylot because I have now become quite happy here. I find I like challenging people's attitudes and ideas and I like to write. It has taken me a while to get involved here but now I am quite happy.
The star going down upset me momentarily but I am fine now. I think I was just surprised that someone had marked me negative.

a lot of people get offended by it but a lot of people can get offended by anything so i dont think that religion should be more important to where it gets more attention into being deleted than others but eh.. what can ya do?? i think its bs.. and i have no idea how they thought some of the posts i have seen were against anything.. i think that maybe they dont fully look into the reported ones and just delete them or something.. the only thing i can think of

You should not call God stupid or idiotic. It is blaspheming against HIM and HE does not like it. In fact, HE will punish it for that utterance as you have dishonored HIM. And Jesus Christ is the son of God and is part of the Godhead along with the Holy Ghost. And by doing so, you want people to remain in their sins and have no forgiveness, so that makes you are a very selfish person who would never forgive let alone forget a wrong that is done to you.
Now other religions find your discussion offensive, Muslims find you insulting to Mohammed because he was responsible for the Arab world to be united and got them away from many gods. So you are telling them you preferred them to be so many scattered tribes, and not to bring their culture to Spain, etc.
I suppose Buddhist would find your discussion offensive because they regard Buddha as a great teacher who taught serenity and peace in a land where starvation was common, and the same for Chinese who did not like your talk about Confucius who gave them moral rules to live by.
Now you can see why myLot deleted your discussion and why so many people are against you.

No, speaking against religion is not offensive in itself but when you start to call the ones we believe in names yes, it offensive. Our beliefs are very special to us and just as we would take offensive at some one calling us a raciest name we take a greater offensive at calling the one we believe in names. Besides, what I am sure you don't understand is that by calling them names all you prove is that you are not smart enough to express your opinion in an intelligent and meaningful way. I feel that you are more to be pity then censored.

well,if we see, nobody of us now can judge that they were gud or not.
so i also cant come to point that jesus was an idiot or not,
what i wanted to say was that, they might have been good in there times, but now their image is only supporting terrorism,
you see daily bomb blasts are happening in the name of religion,so what i said was that i want to kill jesus, mohammad images in people's minds because they are of no use now rather terror is increasing because of them.
thanks

because everyone of us have their own beliefs..and whenever they heard your speaking a blasphemy or something bad..hmm..they might probably kill you specially in speaking the name of mohammad..be cautious and be careful in speaking any name..hmm..i probably get angry when you say some idiot things to jesus..because you don't even know him that much..so please..be careful in uttering that name jesus..you don't even know how special is that name to a true christian..that's all i can say..
