Should a marriage with a 9 year old be legalised?

I think that is just disgusting. No, it should not be legal. A 9 year old is still growing up and is a child. They do not know how to be a wife at that young of an age. And they sure don't need to have children that young because they wouldn't really be able to take care of them. They need to let children be children and grow up into adults.

oh my goodness this is really crazy!!! how can a 9 year old get married? what exactly do they take marriage for? a concensual act between two mature individuals or just an excuse for their paedophiliac behaviour? i am truely and thoroughly shocked by what the 'leader' said.

Of course a marriage of a 9 year old girl should be forbidden. We are speaking of a child, a mere child. If these children get pregnant at an early age before their own bodies have matured they face severe health problems and many of them die. On the other hand how does one eradicate cultural customs, in particular if they are tied to religion. The prophet Mohammed married his last wife when she was 6 or 7 and consumated the marriage when she was 9 years old. This is according to her own diaries. I recently read an article about a 9 year old girl in Yemen who actually managed to get a divorce. Her husband was 30 years old and raped her night after night. Finally one of her own father's wives took pity upon her and told her where the court house was. She stole some money and risked being beaten and arrested because she rode the bus unaccompanied. She sat in the court house all day long until a judge saw her. At first he told her he would grant her a reprieve from her husband for two or three years but she begged him so hard to do something for her. He was kind and got in touch with a female lawyer who took her case pro bono. She did receive a divorce and is now back in school. Her dream is to become a lawyer.

That is sick! I don't care what reasons or excuse people use. Legalising something that would allow a 9 year old to marry is just sick && wrong. It should not even be thought of. && yes I feel its just like pedophilia! A 9 year old is just a child && needs to not worry about marriage... that is crazy talk. Heck, I feel 16 is way to young to be getting married, but it's legal here if the parents sign some legal papers && I'm so not for that.

They shut his down the way they should have. He should have been put in jail for thinking this would be normal. There is something wrong with someoen who thinks that a nine year old is old enough to marry and shows this guy as unfit for socitey. A nine year old is still a baby in so many ways cause they still have the whole world to learn about and so much to experience and marriage not being one of them at nine.

I don't think it should be legalized. 9 is just to young to deal with marriage and possibly a child on the way before they would be ten. I would think it is another form of pedophilia. I don't approve and glad that marriage at the age of nine is illegal in my country.

Yeah, I think this is a form of pedophilia disguised in a religion. It seems to be happening more and more around the world. I think it's sick. I don't know how anyone like this man seriously, but people do. People who are attracted to children in this manner are sick!

This is strange and gross. I don't think it should be legalized. I think old men just feel some sort of strange power and enjoy knowing they are sleeping with such a young, innocent human being. It definitely should not be legalized.

This should not be allowed. It is not just pedophillia since the man is usually an older man, not a fifteen year old teenage boy or even a ten year old, it is a form of slavery. Even because of the hot climate, girls menust*te early and may be able to get pregnant, it is not that the man wants a life partner to love and cherish. He wants a household drudge to do his work while he sits around all day and usually it is to get the dowry from her parents.

I believe it should not. How could a 9 year old build a family? Whoever conceptualized that must be crazy! A nine years has not even gotten over with her liking with play and fun then here comes someone luring her into something she does not even thoroughly understand. The child is not even mature enough to take care of her own self, how can she takes care of her own child? I'm sorry for the word but I think it is a stupid idea.

I hope it would not be legalize.A nine year old girl is supposedly playing with other children because they are still considered kids not taking care of their husband.We should not take away the stage where they enjoy playing with dolls and other toys and running around with other kids.MArriage is not easy, i don't think a nine year old girl can handle it.

a absolute no no to child marriage,see at her age , is it the age to be married and take responsibilities ,but at her age she should be going to school and play a lot,she does not have physical or mental maturity at all to be married at get into any relation.

I don't think this is quite right. It's not just pedophilia but an act of immorality and it's so sick to think that you can marry a 9 year old. The legal age should be 18 and not below because of the physical and mental aspects of that person. They should condemn, condone and probably arrest him for even thinking that.
