Do you prefer your music to have meaningful lyrics despite the way it sounds or is it more important for it to sound good but maybe be a little shallow in subject matter? (please don't say both, look at your music library and decide what the majority is, if you prefer, you can give percentages)

Oh, but it really is both. I really do go 50/50. The fact is I have two different types of music, that which I love to put on and dance to and those I love to listen in the car and sing along with. The ones I sing along with are ones with meaningful lyrics and the ones I dance to just have great beats and sound great musically. And I'm sorry but having over 1000 cds I'm not going to count out each type for you and try to see if one come out a tiny bit ahead. Sorry. They really are pretty much even.

First place goes to meaningful lyrics for me, but it kinda depends on my mood. When I'm driving, I just want some "background music" to get me all jazzed-up. If I was going to sit down and listen to an album, it would have to be one with a lot of meaning.

I prefer the meaningful songs...catchy is nice but meaningful songs soothe the soul. I love a great song that brings back memories...or one that will let me remember the new ones created through its words. Being a lyricist would be an amazing job!

I have enjoyed both. But if I really think about it- I am sure that i prefer to have the meaningful lyrics. Because many times I will catch my self with some of those shallow "silly" songs.. singing it but then i say "why? - you really do hate this song- it's sung only cuz it was a "catchy tune" I do really enjoy the songs that have long or long winded lyrics... the more the better.

i like songs with meaning, otherwise whats the point of it? it would be nice if it sounded great too though. i'd say my music library consists of both but most of mine have meaning and sound good. sorry, i know you said not to say both but, i am being honest.
